Guest guest
Clair, My daughter went from a drastic weight loss due to Graves' (18 pounds in one month and she was already thin) to gaining all that back plus about 10 more, putting her in a slightly overweight category. She's small boned, rather petite, so it didn't look good. Like you, she had no energy to exercise and just walking up the stairs to her bedroom wore her out. She was depressed about the weight gain, clothing not fitting, etc. She's currently feeling better than she has in more than 3 years, we believe, and started exercising again this spring. With her continued improvement with the disease, she's been able to do more and and more and this is a kid who HATES exercise. The pounds have slowly begun to come off and she's gaining muscle, an important part of regaining her health. Just be encouraged that you will get through this and that your body will be better looking and better feeling. You may not ever be as thin as you were prior to Graves', if it contributed to your thinness, but you will feel and look better as your health improves. Just take care of yourself. Amy's Pam Amy was diagnosed in Jan. of 2002 at age 13. We fired two top endos who wanted RAI and found a doc willing to treat with ATDs. Began Tapazole in March of 2002 and went on to BRT a few months later. She's currently on a reduction of Tapazole to see if she can hold her own.
