Guest guest
I have used the Bobs Red Mill and the Sorghum Hot mail - direct source of the flour, and Miss Robens Sorghum. All taste about the same. I use sorghum to replace wheat and pretty much all flours with great success. What recipe did you try? (Just curious.) Sorghum is still my favorite to date in replacement flours A Jeffs mom Sorghum Flour I asked a while back and didn't get any responses, so lets try again: I bought Bob's Red Mill " Sweet " White GF Sorghum Flour at the HFS. Is this not the same thing that everyone else is using? It's really gritty, and has a pretty strong taste to it. I was expecting more, after all the rave reviews of sorghum flour. That was the only type of sorghum flour at Wild Oats. Any ideas? ===== Visit www.open-invitation.net/andrea to shop the newest product line from House of Lloyd! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I've tried it in muffin recipes, shortcake recipes, things that have turned out ok with other subs, but taste really gritty with sorghum. Are you using the " Sweet " White? Or is there only one kind? Maybe I just have a bad bag (I bought 3 and am still using the 1st) maybe it just didn't get milled as fine?? still eats whatever I bake with it, he's really not that picky (17 months), but the texture's just not good enough to satisfy the rest of the family. --- Ackerman wrote: > > > I have used the Bobs Red Mill and the Sorghum Hot > mail - direct source of > the flour, and Miss Robens Sorghum. > All taste about the same. Guest guest
, although I have just ordered some more products from Bob's Red Mill, when Evan first went on the diet, I used some of their rice flour and it also was very gritty. They have since remodeled and maybe their flour is a finer blend now. I now grind my own rice flour and it is not gritty. Maybe you should try another brand. I could not even find any locally so I ordered mine online. It is a good thing I did because I would have stopped using it if I had the same problems you have had. Guest guest
Hi Betty, Gee, that's the only company available for me. I didn't realize the rice flour wasn't supposed to be gritty. I haven't tried their sorghum, but what I use is very fine, light flavored, and about all I use anymore. Guest guest
: I've never tried Bob's Red Mill sorghum flour - I buy mine from Twin Valley Mills, which is mailed to me from Nebraska. You can order direct from their e-mail at sorghumflour@.... I believe they also have a website which, I think, is www.twinvalleymills.com and you can find out about their pricing. I've loved their stuff - it's not gritty at all and is very pleasant tasting. ( & Malachi's mom)
Guest guest
We use sorghum flour from Twin Valley Mills. The quality is wonderful and they are really aware of cross contamination issues! You can get whole sorghum grain from them, too. Whole sorghum cooks like rice (1 cup sorghum/2 cups water; cover/simmer for 1 1/2 hours) and we grind it for a really good cereal (3/4 cup coarse ground sorghum/2 cups water; cook covered for 15 minutes [better than oatmeal]) The web site is www.twinvalleymills.com Theo's Granny
Guest guest
Try sorghum from www.twinvalleymills.com The folks at Twin Valley really produce a good quality, fresh, fine-ground sorghum flour. And they don't grind until you order, so it is really, really fresh! It is our primary flour, with cornstarch and soy, and no one turns down anything we make with it!
