Guest guest
I signed a waiver for Evan and had no problems with the school about it. I also signed a waiver for upon him entering kindergarten. Both have already had all their vaccinations up to 5 yo so I did get a question from the nurse at the health department but legally there was nothing she could do. In California waivers are legal. Guest guest
I hesitated to post this because I thought you all might end up calling me a wimp lol but I have to tell you what happened two weeks ago. Stupid me, I stepped on a nail. In fact, I knew it was there and I was in the process of picking up the board to put it in the trash so no one would step on it when I did it Well, I went to the ER and they cleaned it out and gave me an antibiotic. Then of course they asked when I had my last tetnus shot. Well, that was in 1987 when I did something stupid like slice my arm open with a broken wine glass. Since I have never had a problem detoxifying I got the shot. Then the nurse comes in and gives me a card so I'll remember when I had my last shot. Guess what, they gave me a DTaP! I've never had one in my life. I had the D in 5th grade and I've had the T. I think I had pertusis in college and no one figured it out because he doctors didn't think about the fact that people my age didn't get a DTP shot. I had my titers checked in grad school and I was fine on everything except rubella (sound familiar?). I had another rubella shot and when I had my titers checked before getting pregnant I was still low in rubella but not low enough to get another shot. So, I should have called the ER on giving me something different than they told me but since, for myself, it's no big deal, I didn't. But I tell you this as a warning. Double check, that tetnus shot may really be a DTaP. Maureen

What if I was allergic? Why not just say DTaP? Like I said, for me, no big deal, but for others, ..... Maureen
