Guest guest
Hi everyone, It's great to find a group such as this..I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid approximately 4 years ago. Before that I didn't have any clue what could be wrong with me. I was sooooooooo sick & lost all the strength in my legs. I wasn't able to leave my 2nd story apt for almost 3 months because of not being able to climb up even one step. I had some horrible experiences during that time, and got sick to my stomach even though I couldn't eat. I layed in bed all the time and looked like death. My hair was falling out badly. My boyfriend said I looked like a Chemo patient. I researched what could possibly be wrong with me, and came across a article online that sounded just like me..I called the Dr and we went from there. The Dr came over to take blood and when the results were in, I was right in my diagnosis. I've taken PTU for 3 1/2 years, and had RAI this past August. My thyroid levels are now worse, and I'm once again on PTU, and today my endo Dr prescribed Toprol XL because I'm extremely shakey and sometimes I feel palpatations or a pain in my chest for a brief second. My legs are once again going back to the way they were with no strength & I have to tell you I'm scared. What else can I do? I'm hoping the PTU will kick in and my levels will go back to being at least as they were when I could walk & climb stairs without being in a panic & weak. By the way, I'm a very heavy woman and maybe the exception since I've read most Hyperthyroid patients are thin to normal weight. My weight isn't what's stopping my legs. This is just as it was years ago & we're 100% sure it was because of my thyroid as it is now. Any advice or input is greatly welcome. I'm 49years of age and feeling like 149. I just want to feel better and get on with life. Thank you for llistening and having me in the group. Always, Elise**
