Guest guest
A while back I posted looking for ideas for where to buy foods in bulk to save costs, looking at arrow3root, tapioca and potato starch and xanthan gum. I promised to summarize messages sent off list. Well I didn't get a lot of response, but here it is. Sorghum flour is available in 25lb batches from www.twinvalleymills.com Somebody suggested Blooming Prairie food buying clubs www.bpco-op.com and I have emailed them for information on whether there is one in my area. If there is, they look a good option for those in the area they cover as they carry many of the brands people are familiar with. jan
Guest guest
Jan: What state do you live in? If you live in PA there is a great food co-op group, no fee to join and great prices. I can send you a list if you like. Food is shipped to many states. Let me know if you are interested. Sharon
Guest guest
Sorry that I didn't read the original plea for info. Add to your list ( for those in Western states, Hawaii, and Alaska) the Mountain Peoples Warehouse food buyers clubs (co-ops) based in Auburn, CA and Auburn, WA. I buy my flours-- brown rice, rice, tapioca, millet, etc-- in 25 lb. bags from them. Also 5 lb. bags of potato starch, arrowroot powder. They recently started carrying garb-fava flour. Last I checked, though, the only xanthan gum they carry is a 6-bag box of Bob's Red Mill (at 2/3 the cost of HFSs, but only if you use lots or have 5 to share the case with.) They also have Tinkyada and Pastariso pastas, Hains products, Tofutti, Coconut milk (Thai kitchens) and Coconut butter (Spectrum), Shelton's turkey and chicken products, Van's and Waffle Heaven waffles, Food 4 Life breads, and a zillion other products.
