Guest guest
The pretzels I make don't last an hour because everyone loves them -- would you mind sharing your recipe? I've tried 3 different ones and they are either rock hard and potentially dangerous for teeth, or they are more like a mini-load of bread, and quite chewy. We can't have corn, so the Ener-G ones are out. Thanks much! > The cereal choices are limited. Guest guest
Can you substitute a different flour for the sorghum? Rice, garbanzo or buckwheat? My daughter loves pretzel sticks and this would be a lifesaver! Thanks,
Guest guest
Sure, though the secret may be making them thin, and using a hot oven. 3/4 c sorghum flour and 1/2 c tapioca flour 1 t xanthum or guar gum 1 T yeast (1 pkg) 1/2 t salt 1/2 t baking pwd. 1 egg 1/2 t vinegar 1 1/2 T olive oil (or any oil) 1 t honey 2/3 c warm water ( about) course salt (or kosher) Combine your dry ingredients, mix liquid ingredients together, reserving 1/8 c water (about). Combine liquid with dry, mixing well. Add more water if needed to make a soft, thick dough (like brownie mix). Spoon dough into a 1 gallon freezer bag, snip about 1/4 " off a corner. Squeeze dough out in any shape you want (I make alphabet shapes) onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with course salt. Let rise about 20 min. Bake in 425 oven for about 10 min or until pretzels are brown and hard. Can return to a 200 oven if not crisp enough when cooled. These may brown too much on bottom if not using insulated cookie sheets, or aluminum lined cookie sheet. Lolita >-- would you mind sharing your recipe? I was under the impression that they are both one in the same, just labeled differently for EnerG. Anyone know for sure? a - Madison WI
Guest guest
Through my food co-op the Ener-G pretzels we get are .87 cents a bag. You should know that these have soy in them. Another great treat is Hains mini rice cakes- plain, strawberry, apple cinnamon, and peanut butter. Glutano has some good products, apricot biscuits, short cake rings and crackers. People Pops come in many flavors and they are larger than toostie rolls lollipops. Also, Woodstock has some different assorted nut mixes if your kids can tolerate the nuts. Hope this helps.
