,

thanks for the info. I went and covered my childs mattress today with rubber

sheeting. Only cost 28 dollars. And I did see black stuff in a few areas.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!

and others:

I checked my younger son's mattress as per this discussion and found that

the mattress cover we had used to cover up the used mattress (a plastic

zipped thing) was covered with mold and I just trashed it. I wiped down

the old mattress with a Clorox wipe, let it air dry and washed everything

else from his crip in the hottest water on my washing machine. I'm so

glad I did this as he's clearly waking up in a better frame of mind and

seems to be a little clearer headed. My question is, we will be getting

a regular twin bed for him soon and I will continue to be vigilent in

keeping his bed clothes very clean, but do I need a special mattress

cover to protect him from the fire retardant stuff? I also have been

better about dusting around his crib and in his crib so this may have

helped too.

Thanks for any information you have.
