Guest guest
Hi everyone Just got my blood results again. Don't know what the hell is going on in my body. Its gone beserk: FT4 19.8 (10-25) FT3 4.5 (2.5-6.0) TSH 0.88 (.35-5.0) TSI - retested and is 74. It was the same as way back in August when my FT4 was 37. I've been on 1/4 neomercazole for 1 month now. If you look at the previous bloods on October 29, my FT4 was only 11. Should I go back on 1/2 neomercazole to stop the FT4 from rising??? H e l p!!!! Please excuse me, but I'm a drama queen! ============================= on liz.jameson@... Re: Sittin on the fence: TOO LOW now! > > > Hi , > > I'd drop to 5 mg. immediately, as suggested. Guest guest
Hi , Your results seem absolutely wonderful. Your FT4 is fine! Your TSH is even in range. Not sure what you're worried about, unless for some reason you're not feeling good. But I'd say your levels are stabilizing and normalizing--not the opposite. Guest guest
Hi The TSH is supposed to be 0.08 not 0.88. I wrote it down wrong from my phone message. Spoke to the Endo and he said to up the neomercazole from 1/4 a tablet a day to 1/2 tablet a day. I'm just a little spooked how it stayed stable (though low) for so long and then it jumped up so quickly from 11 to 19 and the TSH dropped to suddently from 3.88 to 0.08 in such a short time. Can you review the results with the 0.08 TSH. Many thanks and cheers ============================= on liz.jameson@... Re: Sittin on the fence: GONE BESERK I agree. If it ain't broke... Guest guest
Terry You won't believe this but I just sent a reply to your email to . This is what happens when I panic about these results. I made a mistake in taking down the TSH from the answering machine. The TSH is 0.08 which is not in range at all. Can you tell what's going on now? My endo has told me to up my dose of neomercazole by half. I'm on a 1/4 of 5mg and so that will mean 1/2 5mg pill per day. Can't believe what happened to my TSH AND FT4. It seemed stable, though low and then POOF - off it all went!! What do u think of the TSH now............ooh la la! Many thanks Cheers ============================= on liz.jameson@... Re: Sittin on the fence: TOO LOW now! >> >> >> Hi , >> >> I'd drop to 5 mg. immediately, as suggested. Guest guest
, This is the place where we use our own judgement. I would be less concerned about the TSH--TSH is not a good guide for determining ATD dosage, given the presence of TSI. If you were above 3, then you were overmedicated. That happened to me, when my TSH shot up to 5.27. Then, promptly after I decreased my dose, the TSH plummeted. I lost 1/3 of my hair during that roller coaster ride. Your FT4 was towards the low end. Right now, it is looking better (most people find it best if the FT4 is in the middle to high end of normal). How do you feel? If you feel all right, then perhaps you should get re-tested in 2-3 weeks, just to reassure yourself. You can always increase if you are going too high. But if you feel it better to increase now, then you can try it and probably ask for labs in 2-3 weeks to see how you're doing. I would wait and see if I was feeling good and my pulse was normal. Guest guest
Hi , Well, your dose explains it all--in my experience, anyway, going below 1/2 of a 5 mg. pill a day I go hyper. Simple as that! I think the minimum effective dose must simply be 1/2 pill a day. It take mine split into 2 quarters, morning and evening. I finally figured it out, that my body was simply not ready to go into remission, and that I needed to stay at the 2.5 mg. a day dose forever probably. I go to the endo Friday, will have my labs done tomorrow so I'll see what's up. I went a bit hyper a month ago, I think I was simply not cutting the pills carefully enough, and got smallish quarters a few too many times in a row. I'm more careful now, and I also, on the occasional day that I feel a bit hyper, take another crumb of a quarter mid-afternoon. There are a lot of crumbs, the Tap pills I have don't cut well even with a single edged razor blade. Hope this helps! Hi, , If your endo said to increase " by half " , that would mean the 1/4 you're on, plus an additional 1/8th (!!) - what you're already on, plus one half again as much. If you add another 1/4, you're doubling, not increasing by half. Of course, others here are probably right anyway that you'll have to increase by more than that. -Jill
Guest guest
Hi Thanks for last post. It was a welcome relief. I do admit that I have been doiing a little panicking. I've never been in this place before. Symptoms: My pulse is 67. I have been experiencing the worst sweating during my waking phases in the night only over the last 2 weeks. During the day I have sweats but not as bad. My weight is the same. I don't think they are hormonal either. I'm guessing they are thyroid related. Other than that, I feel myself. Medication: I will double the dose of nemercazole (because of the sweating) i.e. 2.5mg per day and ask for a blood test in a little less than 2 weeks. Question: If T4 is just over normal top end, I presume dosing is adding a quarter at a time? My worry is that my thyroid might take off again and I will be back in la la land and cant think for myself! My Endo: I have to keep reminding myself how useless these people are yet again! That we have to keep watching the buggers all the time! I had my blood test a week ago. I've been sittin here waiting for someone to ring me to tell me that my thyroid is heading north. But no one ever rings! We have to be ever vigilant! We must take the initiative and do most of the work of finding out results constantly. My endo is a very personable man, but he's juggling too many balls - teaching, conferences, trips overseas patients. You never know how focussed he is on your health when you talk to him. He is heading to Asia for a conference next week and will let me know whats new in Chinesse herbal land. He has been overseas practically all the time I have had my thyroid problem. So as you can tell " I'm lonesome " . Thank God for you guys. Cheers ============================= on liz.jameson@... Guest guest
Hi Terry Your story sounds like mine. I sat there one night slicing up all my pills wth a razer too. When it came to taking my dose of 1.4 and I spilled the ramshackled quarters into my palm, I always scramble for the extra crumbs thinking I hadnt had enough for that day.
