PTU to TAP? PTU volatility alert?/Elaine, others

Hi all:

Sorry for not being around lately. I had been doing well and within normal

ranges on 150 mg. PTU for two years until a batch change and shortage ( I am

in canada) threw my system for a loop.

MY PARANOIA:

WHY has there been there first a shortage of tapazole, then a

long " back-order " of PTU then a decrease in reliability of PTU then a wil

fluctuation of the quality of the available batches? I hope the industry is

not trying to further thwart out access to these lifelines in order to rush

us ito the one-size-does-not fit all of RAI.(All respect to those who have

had it though) (It is not for me, though.)

MY QUESTIONS:

1.Has anyone else noticed volatility of PTU between batch numbers or lot

numbers or expiry dates?In other words: Has anyone noticed PTU not working

the same from one batch to another? If so , write the lot adn batch numbers

down adn the expiry dates; i have doen so and will exchange info. I don't

know if my hyper-ness is increasing sensivity or paranoia or both!

2. WHen any of you have switched toTapazole from PTU, what is the usual

dosage rule? If I am on 150 mg. PTU would that mean 15 mg. Tap is the

equivilant? Is that my (dimly recalled) rule of thumb?

3. Does Tapazole generally protect the eyes and keep the eyes from

malfunctioning, as I have found PTU is great for? (Even when I am an hour

late for my 3x a day dose, I notice eye redness and psychedelic stuff in my

peripheral vision which is stopped completely when I take my next dose of

PTU. When the * & @% drug is working, though, that is, when I have a good

batch I mean.)

4. Am I losing my mind? Don't answer that. My thyroid swells up and ny eyes

go red when I have a bad batch of my drug, and it clouds my whole life. I

also have to take more so I don't skyrocket, and that makes my weight go up.
