Guest guest
Well, I'm back after 8 months of being off meds. Life was busy and things were going well, so I signed off individual emails and just visited the site occasionally. I started having trouble sleeping about a week ago, but otherwise have been feeling good. Then Sunday night, the sleeplessness got worse and I was burning up all night, so I suspect the ole thyroid's kicked into high gear again. I've been awake since 1:30 this morning. I tried warm milk, and even resorted to cough syrup (I was out of benedryl) to try to get back to sleep -- to no avail. I know it's bad, but I was desperate. I made an appointment with the endo for Dec. 4, and I guess I'll have to start dealing with this all over again. Bummer.... Any new treatment breakthroughs in the last 8 months? Holly Dx. 8/2001; treated with methimazole until March 2003; in remission since March 2003. Hoping this is just hormone fluctuations. Guest guest
Welcome home Holly, Sorry you are back with bad news, and not good. Many of us are still here, so at least THAT should help. What a nightmare for you. I sure hope it turns out to be a blip on the radar I am still ATD free. Almost two years now. But I know the fear. I never had the TSI antibody test before going off my pills , due to cost. So it kinda sucks, not knowing for sure. I don't remember... did you get the antibody tests back then ? No new treatments in our hands yet. They do keep finding new parts of the puzzle, as they seem to be researching autoimmune diseases as a whole, and this will pay off in the end. At least they are closer now, then when you were last here. Who knows... it could take years, or happen this next year. Never know. Glad you at least came back here :-) Don't go it alone. -Pam L- 3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Remission since Jan. 28th. 2002 ! Guest guest
Hi Pam. Good to hear from you! And glad to hear you are still ATD free. My doctor wouldn't do the antibody test and I couldn't afford it at the time, either. I think I'll push harder this time. I just know when I see him this time he'll say I told you so, and try to start pushing RAI again. Not looking forward to that. Nice to see some familiar names. I hope everyone is doing well. I'll have to check out the archives and catch up. Re: Here I go again... Welcome home Holly, Sorry you are back with bad news, and not good. Many of us are still here, so at least THAT should help.
