PayPal got me! It was an easy fix. I am almost anal when it comes to protecting my computer! I have a firewall and I think with all the viruses out there today, a virus program isn't enough.. Norton or McAfee Firewalls are great. I think it will cut out the unwanted attacks and again, don't download anything from anyone you don't know. Guest guest
I happened to sit down here at the computer, just as my e-mail program was receiving messages. Norton's just caught FOUR in a row, that were from someone saying they are Microsoft, with a page that looked very real. But each one had an executable file, and they are all the same virus, W32.swen. The e-mail all claimed to be updates to the patches we downloaded some time back. They are NOT... these are a VIRUS. Then... this last one came less then a minute later, but through our group: G_S . This one through the group did not set off Norton's , but it has links to go to. NEVER go to a link such as this. Microsoft does NOT e-mail anyone with such things. Just delete and no problem. Do NOT go to the link in the e-mail. -Pam L-
Guest guest
Thanks Pam, I have also experienced this the last few hours and have even had one from paypal (ebay's " bank " ). Guest guest
I got a message as well. The sender was apparently schoolhouse@... .. I'm sending a note to Yahoo abuse (abuse@...). -Jill Very Weird > I happened to sit down here at the computer, just as my e-mail program was > receiving messages. > > Norton's just caught FOUR in a row, that were from someone saying they are > Microsoft, with a page that looked very real. Guest guest
You are getting them too Del ? Very weird. Must be some virus that sat and had today as the time to activate. Hope the big businesses don't get hit. That stuff trickles down in dollars ! Well, as we always say " You are not alone " ... LOL I can see how PayPal could have fooled ya. Not one we expect. I haven't gotten this stuff since I stopped individual mail from the Hyperthyroid group. That was a long time ago. They allow attachments :-( A very BAD idea in groups like this. Oh well.... It is our very first day of snow here, and I am staying home to putz about, or I would never have happened to see this as it came. I was worried about brand new members, that may not have ever gotten anything like this. I'm off to play... Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ! :-) -Pam L-

Does this sound familiar to anyone ? If it is yours, you have a virus. -Pam L-
Guest guest
I've gotten those Microsoft ones before, and they stopped after I reported the abuse to Yahoo, but now I've got 'em again too. Could someone have signed up for group and be slipping them in? Paypal repeatedly (on every email) says make SURE it's really paypal before you give a card number or anything--probably prime invasion territory given the $ involved!
