Guest guest
I haven't introduced myself yet but I have also been having cramps. My doctor gave me something for it and after a few days they went a way. Hi, My Sheril (36) and I was recently diagnosed with Graves. I am still learning all I need to know. This loop has been a great source of information. Here is my story. I had a nasty virus in November and December of last year. I never recovered. I began to have extreme muscle weakness and I was so tired that I couldn't even drive my car. In April my husband and I went to the doctor for physical exam's due to an adoption. My doctor called a few days later and told me that I was extremely anemic and that I had a bladder infection. I have never had one of those and I had no symptoms so I thought that was strange. My liver enzymes were off also. I have been iron deficient anemic off and on all my life. After taking an over the counter iron supplement and then also a prescribed one...my iron level came up but my anemia wasn't gone. A neurologist mentioned thyroid when I went to see him for my muscle weakness. I had a thyroid blood test and then a thyroid uptake. Even I could tell that there was something wrong with my thyroid when I saw the pictures that day! My doctor called to tell me that I had Graves (no eye problems) and she set me up for the radioactive iodine. I didn't know any better but I'm glad that I came to my senses before I had it done. She didn't mention any other paths to take so I'm guessing that in my education, I will also educate her a bit. Did I mention that I'm really, really glad to have found this email loop? I have learned SO much. Sheril Leg and Foot Cramps I've been having " call your mama for comfort " leg and foot cramps the last couple of nights. Night before last in my right leg and foot then last night in my left leg and foot. Is this something that goes along with graves? I've just started taking Methimazole last tuesday night. This is new to me and is quite disturbing while it is going on. Once they are over I can go to sleep. Any suggestions of what is going on? Guest guest
Welcome Sheril , Be sure to read the post I just sent to Del and you too BTW. :-) Regarding the added iron tablets you took. Please go to ithyroid.com. I believe you will find some very intrusting reading there on this subject. -Pam L- who is too lazy to type out a complete opinion to you. And you will find references at ithyroid to research.
Guest guest
Thanks Pam. I actually found ithyroid before I found this loop. It had some very interesting reading and it was what made me start looking even farther. I am going to have my copper level checked along with celiac. My mother and brother are both celiac. My grandmother and mother both have osteoporosis so I will get an appt. to have that looked at also. Thanks!
