Guest guest
It looks like and I will be moving to Madison, WI by the middle of August. We lived there for several years, then moved back to Washington state to be near my parents for a while but it has been five years and we very much miss our friends there. So we're headed back. I noticed on posts to the lists that wholefoods and Kopps were mentioned as stores in Madison were people had found products and gotten good cooperation; also saw the post from Madison about going to the store for ener-g bread. I would like to know if anybody from Madison has been able to get the following there and in what store: bread (we areusing Kinnikinnick and will probably continue to do so but it would be nice to know you could get bread somewhere quickly if you had to do so), margarine (haven't found any of the acceptable substitutes here so hope I'll have better luck there), ice cream (using rice dream here though not thrilled with it; can't get mocha mix here and I am concerned about the soy in it anyway), and hot cereal (I am ordering Kinnick now and sometimes using Quaker rice cereal despite the cross-contamination concerns; the Kinnikinnick doesn't do well in the microwave but the Quaker rice does so am hoping we may find another alternative in Madison). Also want to know if anybody has had any success at Woodman's and/or Sams there. Thanks. Cheryl
Guest guest
>>So we're headed back. Good for you! Madison is a great town, and I'm sorry to be leaving here, but I came for the medicaid, and now I'm moving back to Illinois. My son is basically recovered, and scores very well on the ATEC - 14 total. >>>I noticed on posts to the lists that wholefoods and Kopps were mentioned as stores in >>> Madison were people had found products and gotten good cooperation. You will love Copps. They are very dedicated to providing foods for this diet. You can order by the case, or single off the shelf stuff. >>>bread (we areusing Kinnikinnick and >>> will probably continue to do so but it would be nice to know you could get <<> bread somewhere quickly if you had to do so) Copps sells both Food for Life and Ener-g. Whole Food sells Food For Life. >>margarine (haven't found any of the acceptable substitutes here so hope I'll have better luck there), We use Fleishman's unsalted and can only by it at Woodman's. However, Copps sells several variety of soy and canola based margarines. >>> ice cream (using rice dream here though not thrilled with it; can't get >>> mocha mix here and I am concerned about the soy in it anyway), mocha mix is big here and can be found in almost all the stores. >>> and hot cereal (I am ordering Kinnick now and sometimes using Quaker rice cereal >< >despite the cross-contamination concerns; the Kinnikinnick doesn't do well >>> in the microwave but the Quaker rice does so am hoping we may find another >>> alternative in Madison). I can't help you on that one. My kids don't like hot cereal. >>> Also want to know if anybody has had any success at Woodman's and/or Sams >>> there. Thanks. Woodman's does sell a few gluten/casein free foods. I don't know much about Sam's, I've only shopped there a couple of times. Here's a list of foods that Copp's sells: Gluten Free Pantry mixes, cookies, Ener-g Pretzels, Ener-g brownies, donut holes, granola bars, breads, english muffins, hamburger buns, egg replacer, pizza crusts and bread crumbs. They will order any product from Ener-g for you, and they charge very low prices on the stuff. They sell Van's, Tofutti, many variety of flours, pasta, xanthan gum, guar gum, Spice Island spices, Annie's dressings, Shelton's and sooooo much more.....You will be quite pleased at the prices and selection. Hope that helps. How soon are you moving here? I'm moving to Peoria Illinois in about two weeks. It's definately a step down, but a step up from where I was originally from which is Rockford Illinois. My sister lives in Peoria, so at least I will have family there. a - Madison WI
