Long train trip

When and I move to Wisconsin we have somebody driving a uhaul there

for us but we are taking the train; decided against flying for several

reasons. Am trying to organize what food to take as it will be a nearly

two-day trip. Have no problem with peanut butter sandwiches and the

fruits she eats but would like to give her some other options. Want to

stay away from potato chips and snack foods that increase thirst, though I

do plan of course to give her plenty of water. Any suggestions of foods

that can be carried easily and will keep throughout the trip would be

appreciated, especially from anybody who has taken such a trip. I also am

wondering if she could safely have a sallad in the dining car and if

anybody has ever tried asking the dining car if they can microwave a bowl

of hot ceral or not. She isn't going to die from two days without these

things but I'd like to know if I have any options. Besides, to be honest,

I might like to eat one or two meals in the dining car, though it's

expensive, and wouldn't feel right doing this if I can't let have

anything there.
