Guest guest
Hi Eileen, As far as bread - LJ (my 6 year old son on this diet) and I eat bakery bread from Deland Bakery. It is fresh, not frozen bread that we get at my HFS. You can also order direct from the bakery, if you can't find a HFS that carries it, or call them & ask if anyone local to you carries their product. They have a minimum of 24 items for shipment, if you order. All their GFCF products are made with millet flour - some though also have rice flour. Here are a few ex. MILLET REG> - organic millet flour, brown rice flour, water, yeast, sea salt ZUCCHINI BREAD> - organic millet flour, zucchini, brocoli, cabbage, carrots, carrot juice, baking powder, sea salt (This bread is great, the veggies are hidden!!) MILLET CINNAMON RAISIN BUNS> - organic millet flour, cinnamon, raisins, apple, water, baking powder, sea salt BAGELS PLAIN> - organic millet flour, water, baking powder, sea salt (not at all like a bagel. But these are round so they're good for hamburger buns) They also have millet hot dog buns t(more like a mini hero though) and I use these to make an individual pizza for LJ. Here is their # and address. Deland Bakery 128 N. Woodland Blvd. DeLand, Florida 32720 phone (904)734-7553 Also they use no preservatives in their bread. This is the best bread I have found, tastes and feels like real bread. Also get yourself a Miss Robens catalog. Call 1-. They have products in there from snacks and pastas to cake and cookie mixes, ready made cookies and they carry Darifree too. They got soups, flours, vitamins, books, condiments, etc. They also have a web site too at www.missroben.com but I like to have the catalog to look at and I call my orders in and this way I get to talk with the girls and ask my questions. Now for lunch ideas- * " HAIN " Mini Munchies plain mini rice snacks with almond butter on it (almond butter is a good source of calcium), but you can also use a GFCF peanut butter * Applegate hot dogs (in a health food store) and fries or potato chips (I send LJ to school with fries in a thermos and they are still warm at lunch time- he doesn't eat HOT food) * make a cold chicken/ macaroni salad - I use Papadinis lentil bean pasta (high in protein and taste ok with Mayo , I use the Canoline mayo from Miss Robens) * chicken nuggets and fries and applesauce to dip in *Applegate roasted turkey breast (coldcuts in vacuum sealed bag in HFS or Trader Joes) with veggie slices and banana Once you get the bread you can send meatloaf sandwiches, etc. Good luck Also try this no bake recipe Put about 8 oz.of peanut-butter powdered sugar to make a firm consistency (about 4 oz. and then sift it) GFCF rice krispies Once firm and formed into a big ball put in refrigerator to harden a little. We slice and eat like that- or use Gorilla Munchies instead of the crispies. If you want you can also In microwave or double boiler melt down GFCF choc.chips. form the dough into any form you want. Dip into the melted choc.chips and place on wax paper to dry. You can decorate with anything you want ( GFCF of course ). on Long Island New York * ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
The Noah's bread recipe is really great. It's the closest thing to real bread and it looks like it too. The recipe is in the archives or if you need it posted let me know. Alot of times I'll make extra at dinner time so I can reheat it for lunch the next day just so my son isn't eating sandwiches all the time. It just takes a little time of bieng on the diet before you get it all figured out. My son eats soup, sandwiches, spaghetti, meatloaf, meatballs, turkey burgers, hotdogs, BLT's, and many other things for lunch. All of it is gfcf and also I get the hotdogs and bacon at the health food store to make sure it is nitrate free. One step at a time. That is everyones motto here. Good luck MA
