Guest guest
Nope, definitely not an urban myth. Check out the following website: http://www.mercola.com/ Type Soy into the search engine and read, read, read. Soy is bad for our little ones. I'm doing my best to stay as far away from it as I can. Guest guest
As far as I understand (and my husband works in an industry where they test this type of thing), that what the Darifree people told you is true. And I have seen several soy ads promoting the " natural " effects of these isoflavones for women, especially as an alternative to help menopause and cancer. I have read that too much soy for kids has been noted to spur premature puberty effects. Now I do not know what quantity is " too much. " It probably varies by person as everything does. So what you have said is the same thing I have read. We don't have much soy in our diet primarily because we don't like the taste. . > So what is all the stuff about soy milk? Guest guest
A great place to go about all this stuff is www.soyonlineservice.com it is an ANTISOY site from New Zealand. I won't go into it, I will let you read it for yourselves. And it WILL scare you. However, if you got to the notmilk site there is a response letter to the anti soy folks. Then things get tricky because you won't know who to trust after you have read both sides. One thing is true: ALL PLANTS HAVE PLANT ESTROGEN. Cow's milk has naturally occurring estrogen (I'm not referring to added stuff like the rGbh), mother's milk has estrogen. If one needs to procreate (and plants, animals, and humans do) there are going to be hormones involved. In closing, I think all of us on the gf/cf kids list know what can happen when one limits their food choices. Too much of anything, almost exclusively, is going to be bad (except of course for chocolate!!<vbg>). Just don't overdo the soy. I think vegans are gonna find themselves in a heap of trouble as time goes by because it is practically their only PROTEIN source. I know a vegan mom whose daughter was born allergic to soy, because all she ate besides veggies during her pregnancy were soy products. AND...interestingly...the allergic daughter CRAVES soy! The internet is a powerful tool and some people have an axe to grind, so beware. My son loves soymilk. I would rather he have that than cow's milk (we all know why). I rotate his soymilk with almond and rice milk. No one in my family will touch other soy products besides the milk. And we use REAL cheese when preparing a recipe that calls for it and leave it off/out of Ben's dish( he was never into cheese). However, my dh and I are Parmeseano Reggiano freaks AKA Batali from the Food network. Happy reading (and fearing)...trust me...after reading the stuff from the new zealand site I didn't let Ben have soymilk for months. That kind of fanaticism on my part was dumb. Just my 2 cents
Guest guest
I was so psychotic putting my 3 year old son on the bus (He started school at 2.10 mos) I drove him the first 4 months, THEN I followed the Bus driver for a FULL month to make sure I liked how she drived...My son was ALWAYS fixated on buses (Before the dreaded MMR he used to point to school buses and say " Yellow bus! " ), so it seemed as if he loved the bus more than me at times!-Shari
