Jen - Congrats on #7! I am sure you have a very full and exciting

house! Thanks for the quick reply and for settling my nerves a bit.

All we need is one more thing to deal with during this time!!

Hi Lori, I've read that pregnancy can make your eyes worse in regards to TED

I think Tori who recently had her son was experiencing worse eye symptoms

with her pregnancy too.

Do you take flaxseed oil or another omega 3 supplement? You probably want to

stay away from fish oils with omega 3 while pregnant, but flaxseed oil is

safe. That will help with the dryness and possibly improve the other

symptoms as well.

Hope that helps,

Pam B.

Pam -

Can you tell me where I can find flaxseed oil and what form is in

it? i.e. pill, drop? I am totally clueless about this, so obviously

the answer is " No, I don't take any! " Thanks so much for your help.

Pam - Thanks for the link. Very informative. I actually think I

have read that before when I was reading up on your story. Maybe I

missed it, but did it say anything about where to get the flaxseed

oil from? Maybe a GNC or something like that?

Thanks again,

Lori

Hi Lori,

'while pregnant, I definitely had some fluctuations in both the sight and " feel "

of the eyes. Dryness, a change in vision, etc. Nothing dramatic, but things

that I noticed.

I had a consult with an opthalmologist at the Mayo Clinic who specializes in

TED. He did say that people with a moderate case of eye problems should expect

to see more eye problems emerge or existing problems increase if they become

pregnant during the 'hot phase' of the eye disease: these problems emerge

during pregnancy or post-partum.

My eyes were bad enough (severe lid retraction that required taping my eyes shut

at night for a period) that I decided to wait to become pregnant again till

after the 'hot phase' of three years.

No problems now at nearly six months post-partum.

Good luck with the pregnancy and I do hope the eye issues are bothersome, but

that's all.

Best,

B

Eyes, Graves & Pregnancy

Hi all,

I am in my 4th month of pregnancy, was diagnosed with Graves in the

Fall of 2002 and have been having some problems with my eyes for the

last couple of weeks. This is my second pregnancy so I know that can

make the eyes go a bit goofy, too. I wear contacts and they have

been overly dry and blury for the past week and a half or so. This

may all just be normal pregnancy stuff, but I was just wondering if

anyone else has had any experiences like this, too. Thanks for your

input!

Lori
