We use coconut oil - great for frying, contains a natural anti-

viral. A little goes a long way. No smoking. I buy it by the case

& share with others to cut the cost.

I've found cold-pressed safflower oil in regular stores, and

occasionally on sale.

Re not-mcnuggets, I bake 'em instead of frying. I can't afford to

load a deep fryer, so everything gets baked or tossed in the regular

fry pan. Or baked, then quickly fried for extra crispiness and/or

appearance.

I fry with olive oil and everything tastes fine, only I never deep fry.

Nuggets I either bake or regular pan fry. For french fries I buy the

Cascadian Farm ones at a HFS and bake them.

In Italy we mostly fry with olive oil. The better the oil the

better the results. olive oil has a high point of burning(I don't

know if it sounds like that in english); which means thet it'll burn

at higher temperatures than other oils, therefore it will give you

better and healthier-most important-results.

Now, personally, since I am not in Italy-poor me-I like corn oil for

frying here, but I am thinking of switching myself, because I started

doubting that my son maybe allergic to corn and soy as well, and I

don't like the way other oils fry (stays too greasy).

Good luck, olive oil is probably the best choice for us now as well.

Joe, do you have a Costco near you? They have a much better price for

safflower oil. They also have a good price for cold pressed light olive

oil. I know my first bottle of safflower oil really shocked me. Then I

found a better price at Raley's and even better at Costco. My husband

complained about the olive oil but the safflower he accepted. I am working

back on the olive oil again and he has not noticed it, yet. Maybe I have a

better grade this time. I think the brand makes a difference in taste.

Have you tried Oven frying? it is cheaper on the oil than the deep fryer.

Also cooking an apply or potato slice helps remove bad flavors (my wife

taught me that one).
