It sounds like you may not have been properly monitored post-surgery. You

might want to go over the questions list I posted which will give you

ideas about what proper monitoring entails. Could you share your most

recent lab work with us? Ideally it should be Free (not total) T4, TSH,

and FreeT3, along with their ranges. You may need something other than

synthroid or the other T4 replacements (levoxyl, unithyroid, etc.) such

as Cytomel or Armour, which address T3 replacement. It gets a bit

complicated but not terribly so and people here can walk you through it.

Take care, Fay

Sharing your lab test results here would give us a clue as to what's going

on with you. You may be undermedicated, you may not be converting T4 to

T3...have you got labs that check Ft4, FT3?

Hi,

After surgery, hypothyroidism quickly sets in although there can be some

improvement after the first 6 months. Regardless, it's important that you're

being

tested for both FT4 and FT3 levels. TSH can be misleading for some time after

surgery. If you're prescribed the proper type of replacement hormone at the

correct dosage many of your symptoms should improve. Memory loss, brain fog,

and depression are all very common symptoms of hypothyroidism. Other common hypo

symptoms include hearing loss, weight gain, constipation, joint pain, sleep

apnea, high cholesterol and high diastolic blood pressure. You have a right to

your lab results and can ask to have copies faxed or mailed to you. Best,

Elaine

Hi

I also had surgery and have done very well since. Also had 2 pregnancies

straight after. My GD antibodies have been normal and my thyroid levels

have been mostly normal with a few adjustments here and there due to

pregnancy.

I do sometimes feel tired, have joint pain and mood swings, but I think

it is probably normal for my circumstances (2yr old, 1yr old, I'm 42

etc etc).

As suggested by the others please post your levels or get some done ASAP

(Free T4 & Free T3, TSH and GD antibodies also) to see what's going on.

How old are you? Maybe something else hormonal is happening?

Use some other methods to help e.g., yoga, relaxation, good skin care.

Take some none iodine vitamins (sometimes mouth ulcers are from lack of

certain vitamins), eat well - lots of fresh fruit and veggies, small

amount of lean meat, some fibre, drink lots of water. Don't deny

yourself a small treat here and there. Do something at least once per

week that is purely for fun.

Hope you get better soon - take care

Caroline
