Hi Barb,

There are only one or two studies I've found that support the view that

thyroidectomy reduces chances of GO. Theoretically, this should work because

most

of the thryoid antibodies are suspected of being produced in thryoid cells.

However, there's no real way to prove this and there are people who developed GO

years after having thyroidectomies. It's impossible to remove all of the

thyroid tissue and this may be the reason why. It's likely that the remaining

tissue, however small, works hard to regenerate and the cells are more active.

Synthroid used in B & R helps put your thyroid cells to sleep....they stop

working hard to produce thryoid hormone and this reduces antibody production as

well. It should help and I'm sure there are lots of people who are interested in

hearing of your progress so keep us posted, Elaine

Help!

I am being confused by all these TLAs (two letter acronyms and three letter

acronyms).

Would it be possible to include a list of TLAs in the introductory message,

the " open letter to the newly diagnosed Grave's patient " ?

Maybe there is one that already exists but if not maybe if some kind soul

isn't feeling too tired they could post something to the list?

Many thanks,

btw, does having Grave's disease make leg-waxing excrutiationly painful? IT

HURT *g*
