Guest guest
I was put on Methimazole, but I understand you won't really fell the full effects of it for maybe 6-8 weeks. Just be sure you take it as you should, 3 times a day, and you WILL start feeling better. I've been on my meds for almost 2 yrs in Nov/Dec, and I feel better than I have in years. :-) Sandy~Houston On Mon, 06 Oct 2003 17:12:29 -0000 " gail_salcedo " wrote:

This is not unusual and should get better with time. Do realize that you may have suffered some bone density loss, depending on how long the Graves went untreated so you should take supplemental calcium. Check with your dr. but 1200 mg./day of calcium with at least 1/2 as much magnesium should help. (You shouldn't take it all at once but over 2/3 times during the day. This kind of pain (I don't know if you mean joint pain or muscle weakness) can also be indicative of hypOthyroidism, something to watch out for if you're kept on too high a dose for too long. Just to get this straight (I was on Tap, chemically similar to carbimazole) each tablet is 50 mg., right, for a total of 450 a day? This is pretty high to start with but not unusually so; you'll just be ready for a reduction soon. You must get bloodwork after being on PTU for 4 weeks and likely your dr. will want to reduce you. Ideally this should be in 50 mg. increments but when you start this high, it might be more dramatic. take care, Fay ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
hi i agree. its definetly a good idea to take some magnesium. my daughter has a deficiency and without magnesium she aches like hell plus she feels like someone has battered her if she runs out for a couple of days. love aby --- cf young wrote: --------------------------------- > I was diagnosed with Graves Disease on Sept 26th.
