Guest guest
Hello everyone! This summer had an Upper G.I. and Milk Scan/stomach emptying tests done and the results were no emptying delay, but absolutely reflux, moderate reflux. So his gastro stopped the Zantac and started Prevacid. currently takes a 15 mg Prevacid SoluTab (awesome by the way, he loves to let it melt in his mouth) in the morning and 1/2 a SoluTab (7.5 mg) before dinner, with the instruction that he can have one tums if he's having pain or before bed. She told us that eventually we will probably stop the evening dose of Prevacid depending on how he does or possibly switch to Zantac before bed. Right now we like the way this is going and my husband usually gives a tums before bed just to help. has told us that his throat doesn't burn as much! Also, has started morning preschool 5 days per week. He attends an Elemantary school that is 30 minutes from us with a D/HOH (deaf/hard of hearing) program housed within. My older son, , attended last year and we had built some really good relationships with the staff, so getting accommodations for was extremely easy. 's takes the bus with his brother in the morning (1 hour ride, ugh) and comes home by himself at lunch time. Since his rides are long I was worried about the time between having breakfast and the regularly schedule snacktime at school, so we set up a schedule where eats a small snack as soon as he gets to school, then he eats snack with his peers, and then one more small snack before he leaves for the day. He is gone from 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. So, even with all of that snacking he is still eating a really good lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner! has been around 26-27 pounds this summer and I think that with the switch to Prevacid and all of the extra snacking at school has gained weight (I weighed him with his clothes on and he was almost 30 lbs., so shave off a pound for clothing and he's got to be around 28-29. He is so excited because he doesn't fit his pants from last winter/spring because they are too short for him and I've had to untie the ties in his elastic shorts because he couldn't pull them up, they were too tight. He even stopped using the potty seat on the toilet because he says " I got bigger, I don't need it anymore. " I'm so proud of my little guy! I've gotten nothing but good notes back from school that he is just happy there and such a delight and his teacher said that he has captured the hearts of the staff. We couldn't be more thrilled! , (RSS, Prevacid, Periactin, tums), and
