Guest guest
Hey , I can only speak from my own very limited experience, but I know when I was having my period a couple of weeks ago I felt just awful - the worse I have felt since they told me I had Graves back in May. I asked the same question of the board, i.e. whether where you are it in your menstrual cycle can exacerbate your symptoms, and a few folks wrote back to tell me that yes, in fact it often does. So while it would probably be a good idea as you say to get some current labs done to see where you are at exactly, it may well be possible that your hormones are contributing to it all. I'm sure going to ask my endo about that when I see him tomorrow. A couple of older friends even told me that a lot of the Graves symptoms sound like menopausal stuff as well and that I might want to get that looked into.....but I'm still kinda playing Queen of da nile with that whole ball of wax! I feel too young at 44 to be menopausal for crying out loud! LOL Hang in there, get in for your doctor visit early if your stuff doesn't calm down real soon, get those lab tests, and write me back if you want an ear to bend, okay? I'll pray you feel better today.
Guest guest
Thanks , I haven't felt like this in so long that it kind of took me by surprise. But the last year I have been slowly but surely creeping more and more towards hyper again. I will be 40 a month from today so I feel I'm too " young " to have to deal with menopausal stuff yet, but perhaps not. My aunt (mom's sister) started young so maybe I will too. I have been feeling so good since 1999 that I guess I was spoiled. I haven't had a hyper symptom since then, until now. Over the last year though I have allowed some foods back into my diet that I wasn't eating before and I'm wondering if that's part of it too. *Sigh*, this is just so frustrating. Calgon take me away!! At least I still have my sense of humor in tact. Not much I can do but roll with the punches. in MA USA Graves since March 1997 Currently on 2 PTU tablets per day Was in remission from 2000-2003 Will not undergo RAI Re: Feeling Hyper Big Time Hey , I can only speak from my own very limited experience, but I know when I was having my period a couple of weeks ago I felt just awful - the worse I have felt since they told me I had Graves back in May. Guest guest
, I would go for the labs. Better to know, is my philosophy. Graves' as you know is unpredictable. The sooner you get on top of things, the better, if you are going hyperT. And if not, then you can relax (the stress of not knowing can cause problems). Best wishes,
Guest guest
- Yes, your monthly cycle can affect your thyroid levels and how you are feeling. I feel more " hyper " several days before my period. If you think menopause might be coming in to play, that could also be affecting how you're feeling. Getting labs is a good idea, but if you're close to beginning your period, wait until after it has started to get the labs done. Your thyroid levels can be slightly higher right before your period. To get a more accurate picture of what your levels really are, wait a couple of days after it starts. RE: Feeling Hyper Big Time > > > , > I would go for the labs. Better to know, is my philosophy.
