Guest guest
-Hi , You've found a great place for support. It sounds like you need to get some blood tests done to see if you need to start replacement hormones. Worrying less helps too, along with activities that reduce stress (yoga, meditation, or maybe something you enjoy like gardening or a hobby). Many people with Graves' experience anxiety, but this generally improves when your thyroid levels are brought back to normal. I have asthma and like many asthmatics was not able to take a beta blocker. It made me feel like I was gasping for breath. Instead, asthmatics are generally put on a type of calcium channel blocker medication. I was on one for 9 months to calm my palpitations and slow my heart. Now, after 12 months on antithyroid meds, I no longer need it. Not tolerating beta blockers is a well known problem for asthmatics and you might ask your doctor if that's why your chest feels tight. A very useful book is Elaine 's Graves' Disease: A Practical Guide. And there's a wealth of knowledge on this board, so just keep asking!
