Guest guest
Thank you so much for the input Elaine on both my questions. I'll let you all know how I do with my tattoo.....and I am going to drop my dose down this weekend and call my endo's office on monday and tell them. A favorite quote of my hubby's is it's better to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission, and this feels like a case where that is called for. :-) Have a Happy Halloween! the other daisyelaine@... wrote: Hi , Even though your T3 and FT4 crept up a bit, your TSH rose, and often TSH doesn't rise until you're moving into hypothryoidism or are already there. Your FT4 is essentially the same and total T3 can change when your binding protein levels change, and these are affected by estrogens, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds and lots of changes. For this reason, you can't even really consider your slight rise a true rise. If you feel at all hypo or think you'd feel better with higher thyroid hormone levels, 2.5 is a safe dose. The recommended maintenance dose is 2.5-10.0 mg daily. As long as you're not using any red dyes, your tattoo shouldn't cause any problems. For infectious disease precautions, it's recommended that your tattoo be made, using its own aliquot or small vial of dye. Common sharing of needles into one vial of dye is suspected of transmitting certain viral diseases. You'd like your own little batch of dye, or small aliquot and of course a new disposable syringe and needle. Have fun with it, Elaine
