Hi all,

Hope it is okay to cut back in after being very quiet for over a year?

1) Has any member of this group actually developed agranulocytosis as a

direct result of being on ATDs?

2) More importantly (joke!) has any member of this group who has had

Grave's, then bunged on a stack of weight when they were on ATDs (in my

case about 50lbs) - has anyone managed to loose that weight?

I have been off ATDs for over a year, but my weight stays stubornly up at

the top weight that I reached when over medicated and made to go hypo.

I keep trying diets, but must admit I am not sticking to them properly -

still I thought I would loose SOME of the weight over the period of a year

just by being off the medication. I'd really like to hear from anyone who

has been in this position and had some success.

It would also be interesting to hear about people in this group who have had

RAI and how they have fared in the weight game, but my original enquiry is

to people who have gone the ATD to remission route, who are not taking

thyroid hormone replacement as I don't think I have heard anyone say that

they have had any success with the dieting thing in that instance.

I exercise regularly and don't eat massive amounts. As an adult, before

Graves' I weighed 140 - 147lbs and now I weigh 182 - 190lbs at 5'4 " . I am

fat and I look very middle aged at 37, I was fit and 33 when all this began!

I am still grateful that I no longer feel ill, but if it's possible I

really would like to do something about the weight. Any hints much

appreciated as I think my body has decided that obesity is it's new set

weight ! I will try again, but am worried about triggering Graves' by

revving up my metabllism with weight loss.
