Guest guest
Hey , Thank you for our encouragement and sharing the positive outcome of your scare. I'm glad to hear that it was just a benign tumor. I think from reading the paper about my ultrasound, it sounds like there is a cyst in the area of my middle pole on the right lobe PLUS some area on my lower right pole on the right lobe that is showing a weird echo pattern....it's hard to determine and my internist said it was something more than just a cyst. I'll just have to wait and see. I'm trying hard not to borrow tomorrow worries for today, but it is soooo hard. I'll probably take a xanax here in a little while once my hubby is home and I don't have do to anymore driving. I did so want to get onto some ATD's to help with my breathlessness and anxiety and my rather poundy heart rate. At least it's not true palpitations......when I described them to my internist (it's a beat skipped, and then a rather strong beat following....I've been monitoring my resting heart rate the last few days and this morning it was down to 77 from some highs of the upper 80's to low 90's at times yippee!!) she said is was something else......I forget the technical term she used but it had to do with the lower valve of my heart and is common as you age up and has a lot to do with anxiety. She said the xanax would help, as will just getting exactly what is going on with me figured out. So I'm trying to remember to breathe and take it all with the attitude that God is going to go with me thru whatever it is and I'll be ok. :-) Anyway......thanks again . And may you continue to improve and have your health restored as you face down your case of Graves.
Guest guest
Hey , My internist said she didn't think I was have palpitations that were related to my thyroid (since they aren't a lot of rapid beats all strung together but rather the skip of a beat and then one hard beat) and she had a name for that type of irregular beat....but of course I can't remember it now. It's related to one of my lower heart valves and often comes from being overanxious. Anyway, she said the drugs for that can have serious side effects as they interfere with the rhythm of the heart and she recommended not using those. I don't think she was referring to beta-blockers, was she? Or are these the kind of palpitations that people with Graves have? I thought it would be a lot of rapid beats like a fibrillation.....something I do have on occasion for most of my life actually, but that's not what these are right now. Still so much to learn and I'm still not sure where I fit into the Graves picture. If I'm still having the irregular stuff once I see the endocrinologist on the 11th (and it's still with me as of today) I plan on asking him for something to help with that if he says he believes it is Graves related. Thanks so much for your help and support. It does make me stronger mentally and emotionally and helps me to speak up with the doctors. Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you and the rest of the gang on the board have a fabulous 4th of July celebration.
