Guest guest
Sandy - Sorry hubby's feeling poorly! Actually, what you describe is exactly how I feel when my TSH is 2.4 (or anything over 2 for that matter). His T4 is at the lower end of normal (nice of them to not do a Free T4, huh?) so perhaps that is hypo for him. The most recent doctor I saw suggested that some people have a narrower window in which they feel good. That's about the closest to a you're-not-crazy-you-really- do-feel-bad that I've gotten out of a doctor. Most of them think I'm nuts or depressed when I tell them I feel hypo at a TSH over 2 (and I'm not either!) Now, the really tough part is finding someone to actually DO something about it. Good luck there. So far I haven't had any luck getting a doctor to treat me for hypo when I'm in " normal " range. (not that I'm bitter about it or anything - LOL!) The new standards for TSH are anything above 3.04 is considered hypo. And those in the field are saying that is should be an upper range of 2.5 because 90% of people have a TSH of 2 or less. Now if only we can convince the everyday average doctor of this, we'd be in business! Hope you have more success finding such a doctor. I feel for your hubby. Been there, done that, it sucks! > Hi. Hubby just got out of the hospital. I had asked him to have his dr run a TSH, FT3 and FT4 on him since he's always inappropriately cold. Has constipation quite frequently, only wants to sit down and do nothing every evening and on the weekends. His weekends are actually spent laying around on the couch. He asked for the free tests but as you can see below, this is what they ordered. sigh > > > T3 Uptake 35.0 29-41% > T4 (Thyroxine) 6.7 4.7 - 12.6 ug/dl > TSH 2.41 0.3 - 5.0 mIU/ML > > TSH reference ranges: euthyroid 0.4 - 4.3 > hypo >7.6 > hyper <0.1 > > Any hints on what this is? I'm aggravated that it was asked speficially to run TSH, FT3 and FT4, and this is what we got. lol > > Sandy~Houston > > >
Guest guest
, since my hubby has had 3 heart attacks in less than 7 yrs, I'm starting to really wonder why he has such high cholesterol, why he has to take drugs to get it down, and why he's now been given 5 different meds, one of Atenolol (for bp which I also take that was just prescribed today) and a list of others. My concern with his getting chilled, the way he does....really worries me sometimes. He has to literally turn the a/c up where it won't come on, just so he can take a shower without freezing to death? To me, that is NOT normal. He's happy without a/c actually most of the time, and we're far enuff down south, that's just not possible! lol. He's got more symptoms than I care to admit, but I figured while he was in the hospital with this heart attack, it wouldn't hurt for them to check anyway. Now, the worst part is, I dunno if any of the meds they gave him could have had any bearing on how his test results came out. I didn't expect his dr to be so danged agreeable! rofl. Then I get this and it's not even what hubby remembered me telling him to ask that they run. DR's! And this dr is an internist? lol. I can see right now this is going to be a fun venture. I just know that we're having to deal with all these health issues and there is a cause for them. This heart attack was merely caused by a blod clot? He takes an aspirin daily too, so I have no idea how this blood clot originated. I just know 3 times in less than 7 yrs is really starting to wear on me! I've already lost one hubby to so called heart disease and this is looking like the second's destiny also. ughhh! And not to mention the stress it's putting on me. sigh They told him yesterday to eat more chicken and fish, and he laughed and asked them had they talked to me before, cuz I knew so many ways to fix chicken, that he hates it. lol Sandy~Houston Re: hubby just got test results...
