Guest guest
Amy, I can't help you with the assymetry and eye problems. But my son Matt is 8 years old and is seeing a Behavioral Opthalmologist. HE is great. Found problems with Matt's eyes that the Optometrist missed. Matt has problems following objects when they are close, 'convergence' and tracking from left to right, especially over the midline. Anyway, there is a website: www.pavevision.org in case you are interested in learning more. Beth > > Hi everyone! I am in search of other RSS kids with asymetry and > vision problems. Guest guest
Amy - Unfortunately, I have read virtually every article on RSS kids that has been published, with the exception of a bunch of genetics articles that are way over my head. I have never read anything of this. I am so sorry. I have never read of any vision problems whatsoever, let alone something like that connected with asymmetry. In trying to mull it over in my head, though, even with one side being smaller, why would that make the eye pull inwards? Did he say? Our next door neighbor's son has his left eye pull in, and he just had surgery to correct it. He is 9 months old, though. Keep us posted on what you hear! > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
Amy, just saw an Opthomologist today as a matter of fact. He has trouble with his left eye. His eye lid lags a great deal. So much, that it resembles a lazy eye. They are saying he doesn't have a lazy eye, but they are going to keep an eye on him to make sure his vision isn't compromised by the lag in that it may not get the stimulation it needs to work properly. So far, he is using both eyes equally, but his lid will always lag this way unless we decide to have it surgically lifted. Dr. H told us that has assymetery on the left side of his face, so I am assuming that this problem is part of that. The doc said his muscles in the left lid did not form correctly and that is why it lags. Anyway, this could cause vision problems, but so far has not. Sorry this is rambling so much! ) Take care, Jodi R. , 29 1/2 months, 18 lbs. 5 oz, 30 3/4 " > > Hi everyone! I am in search of other RSS kids with asymetry and > vision problems. Guest guest
Amy, We also have a daughter, Abby! She is a 6 year old twin and is noticeably asymetric, at least if you know to look for it. I had to point it out to her general practitioner for the first time, but it was obvious to him then. Her left eye has always been a little droopy and " lazy " . She has tested fine on her vision tests though and it hasn't seemed to affect her vision. Guest guest
Hey Amy, Congrats on the baby news. I've been meaning to call or write and have just lost track of time. Coby has a very small amount of asymetry. He was just put in glasses last month because of depth issues and being far sighted. She also believes that he has a eye that is drifting. Howere, it is so mild that it is very hard to pin point. I don't notice it but she did durning her testing. Have no idea what this means, but that is Coby's experience at this point. le, mom to: Shye, Brock, and Coby and Carlee
