Guest guest
Thanks everyone, They are being very weird about it I asked them for the forms, because our doctor wants to fill them out so that we don't have to go through this every time, but Hopewell (my employer) says that they don't have the papers . I really think that they are just mad because one of the head people will have to work over the weekend. I am definately covered, I have worked there over two years, and this is only the second time that I have had to take any time off due to an unexpected illness. Anyway, I will not work because if the doctor thinks that I need to be with him, then I'm definately going to be with him. If something happens, I'll just deal with it when it comes, I have to concentrate on my baby instead of my job. A coworker told me in the past that the supervisor told her that she had to choose between her family and her job, and she is no longer employed by Hopewell. If worst comes to worst, they will have to pay me unemployment until I get another job. So, thank you so much. Also, I just took Datreon's bs and it was 101. I'll keep everyone updated. le mom to Datreon
Guest guest
Well, I am assuming you are dependent on this job because you are single???? If you renot, I would talk it over with your husband and determine how to adjust your budget so you can stay home with your son. (In case your boss fires you for taking the time off anyway) If staying home isn't an option at all, I would call on someone I could rely on to check his blood sugar for you that can stay home with him. It is always easier said than done, but if your doc is that concerned I would take heed and follow his instruction. I hope this helps, and I sure hope the best for you!!!!! Hey everyone, I just need to vent right now. Yesterday, Datreon suddenly became lifeless and his fever shot up to 101.3. So, I checked his blood sugar, and it was 271, so a little later I checked it again and it was 378! He had only eaten about 8 oz all day, so I expected it to be low, and I thought that his glucometer must be broken, but I called his doctor and he went straight to the ER. They did all the tests from x-rays to a spinal tap, and could not find anything wrong, They checked his blood sugar, and it was 491!!! So, they transferred him to another hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, his BS was only 41! Luckily he drank 5 oz of juice and it went up to 125. 4hours later, they took it again, and it was 229 then went down to 70. Since then it has remained normal, and they sent him home. The doctors said that they have never seen this before, so they want me to stay home wiht Datreon for a week and monitor his blood sugar, if anything else happens they want him put back into the hospital. (They do not think it is diabetes, because he doesn't have the signds) My employer is saying that they will not let me take this leave. I'm not going to leave Datreon with a chance of something happening, but I don't know what to do about my job has this happened to anyone else? Guest guest
I know you would not get paid for the time off by doing this but you can use the Family medical Leave act.. Your employer can't say NO to it it's the law....
Guest guest
If you have worked xxx hours or have been employed 1 full yr I believe; and if her employer has over 50??? employees. They do not have to practice it if the comppany does not meet that criteria, and if she hasn't met the hour criteria. It is a great idea(I have used it before when I was pregnant), you can look it up online to see what the criteia is and then look in your employment manual to see if it is listed. I know you would not get paid for the time off by doing this but you can use the Family medical Leave act.. Your employer can't say NO to it it's the law.... Guest guest
le, Technically your employer cannot fire you for taking the time off. There is a something called FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) that requires employers to " hold " a job for you if you take a leave of absence to care for a family member because of a medical problem. The leave is not paid, but you should be able to use vacation or sick leave that you have accrued. If the doctors are telling you that his B.S. needs to be monitored because of this episode, then I would consider that a medical problem. , 's mom just needing to vent! Guest guest
hi gabrielle!! first off i just hope and prayer that datreon will be ok!!! how scary that must have been for you!! now as far as the leave, you should be covered under the federal family leave act, i dont think they have to pay you but they have to give you the time off and hold your job for a certain period of time (correct me anyone if this is wrong). good luck and let us know how you make out!! jodie c. -- In RSS-Support , princessgs84@a... wrote: > Hey everyone, I just need to vent right now. Guest guest
le, Datreon's blood sugars are kinda strange. I just wanted to mention 2 things. Infections can cause high blood sugars in some individuals as can some medications. And small children who are diabetic, often do not manifest the same signs and symptoms of the disease that older children and adults do. Hope all works out for you guys. > Hey everyone, I just need to vent right now. Yesterday, Datreon suddenly > became lifeless and his fever shot up to 101.3. Guest guest
le - Happy to hear Datreon is doing better - how scary - I don't have a blood sugar monitor - maybe I need to get one??? Anyway -I would hope your employer will understand - and if not - well better to find out now that they don't support family - and start looking for a company that would. My thoughts are with you - Jane, mom to
