Guest guest
Donna, It doesn't hurt to check with the Doctor or office nurse by phone prior to your appointment to get his/her views on RAI and ATDs. If RAI is his/her treatment of choice, it doesn't hurt to ask for a recommendation to another Doc who might be more oriented towards ATDs. For me, RAI was not an option. Knowing and saying that to different docs cut out a lot of B.S., fear, and dependency on my part. Most beauticians like to cut hair while wet. Mine needs to be cut dry or it turns out a mess after I wash it. That means when going to a new hair place, I have to ask if someone there cuts dry. If they say no, I go elsewhere. I know that dealing with hairdressers is different than dealing with endo docs and I don't mean to belittle the humongous problems we all face with our Docs. This kind of thinking has been helpful to me in getting through some of the authority, treatment, and other issues many of us have faced with our Docs. Good luck, Zoey
Guest guest
Hi Donna: It was a pain to have to keep looking for endos, but I also got a great education in managing my own healthcare. Only a couple of them made me cry, one was so silly I just rolled my eyes. The best story for me was the arrogant endo who, in the face of really high levels on my labs, wanted me to consider psyciatric treatment. What a putz. Going to endos for me is like finding a good mechanic. It's up to me to decide, and if the price is having to switch a bunch of times, it's worth it. I hope you strike gold right away, but if not, it's not so bad to keep on looking. Good luck! > Hi everyone. I won't go in to all of this but I see an Endo on July > 1st. I have seen 2 eye docs and the same GP twice and was referred.
