I've been in remission for 2 years after 14 months on Tapazole with stable levels since going off the meds. I still have a goiter. If you're contemplating going off the Tap and you have a good TSI (less than 2) that shouldn't hold you back. Guest guest
I think the Argentine study proved that RAI reduces goiter in many cases. Guest guest
Hi Jae, I would love to see the study you mentioned here. Would you mind ? Pleeese :-) I am spending my free time replying this evening on several sites, and not enough time to go look for this one. Not sure if my memory is real clear a where I saw something like that Long, Long ago. Gosh, we have SO MANY new people this time of year... every year. Anyone else seem to notice this ? Like late summer allergies are the last straw, and then later in the winter I always see the 'after the flu shot rush', a few months after those are passed out like candy. Sheesh ! -Pam L- ___________________________________________________ Sorry... Barcelona is right, eh? Well you guys would know better. Guest guest
Oh, I should not have replied! haha. But I was referring to the editorial Journal of Endocrinology Vol 86, No 3, from 2001 The table on the second page of the editorial shows how various levels of I-131 can decrease goiter size. Recipients of the highest dose after 2 years had goiter reduced by 79%. I believe the numbers from this table are drawn from several studies including the Barcelona one.
