Ben got thrush (yeast in mouth) and they finally gave us Nystatin. Standard medical practice stool tests had come back showing no yeast, so they thought we were crazy for suggesting it was the problem. After just three days on Nystatin, he's having normal poops for the first time since we got over the initial pre-diet constipation. My question is How can I convince a " regular " doctor to prescribe Nystatin, when the only tests he understands say that it's not needed? Cherri in So. Guest guest
Hi, My daughter benefits from Nystatin, even though she's never shown yeast via blood test and stool test. The Organic Acid test did show yeast metabolites, though. I've been told that cell wall-less yeast will not show up on stool tests. The doctor who prescribed it didn't offer it at first, but I scheduled an appointment strictly to discuss yeast and he prescribed it after I told him my reasons, especially stressing symptoms. Be sure to stress that you are already doing a yeast diet and probiotics (right?). Our environmental allergist now says all ADHD kids should have a trail of Nystatin! Check Dr. Semon's site at www.nutritioninstitute.com for yeast info. Perhaps you could obtain Dr. Semon's book or point the doctor to readings from his site? Good luck, K. | >My question is How can I convince a " regular " doctor to prescribe Nystatin, | >when the only tests he understands say that it's not needed? | >Cherri in So. California | Have you tried the Great Plains Labs organic acids test ? This could be something objective-looking to push in front of your doctor.... Guest guest
Some people have used grapefruit seed extract from the HFS. You might want to get some into on that. (used it for yeast probs that is) April in SE PA Simona's mom
