Guest guest
Hi everyone....I haven't been on in a while, but I'm back now. Dalia was diagnosed as SGA by Dr. H, not RSS and she also said that Dalia's asymmetry was minimal...but, as her mother and looking at it day in and day out it seems to be more than Dr. H. thought. We have had an MRI to rule out any other cause for the asymmetry and it came back normal. Does anyone have other ideas on what may be causing this? Also, would it be a good idea to go see Dr. H. in NY at this point for follow up (we only saw her in Chicago)...the endo here stinks and I haven't been able to get into the better one since they are not taking new patients. Guest guest
Sheryl - Hi - my name is Aileen - I haven't met anyone, but I pipe in now and then. I'm replying as a health care provider & a Mom with a child who has RSS - Asymmetry is not abnormal. People of all walks of life have asymmetries. The body is not equal from side to side. It may appear to be more pronounced because of the size of Dalia. Our son, Jake, has a 7/8 " lift on his right shoe. At this time it looks like a lot, but as he grows in height the difference will appear to be shrinking, but actually it has been remaining the same. The best way to measure is by X-ray. The size of Dalia would allow for a Femur and tibia/fibula measurement. Request the x-rays and/or see an orthopedist to track her development. To be on the safe side you may want to have lifts made for shoes for her to prevent scoliosis. We had them made for Jake when he started to stand. I think the Orthotist has made 3 or 4 shoe lifts for him since about 10 months. Now his grandfather has started to make the lifts for his shoes. Best of luck with Dalia's development Aileen (guardian to Jake 35 months RSS & others non RSS) On Sun, 10 Oct 2004 03:34:05 -0000 " olifraz " writes: Hi everyone....I haven't been on in a while, but I'm back now. Guest guest
Thanks Aileen...I appreciate your support...I know it will seem less as time goes by...but it is her arm and trunk too and it just seemed a strange coincidence that she has these RSS similarities (size, etc), but not have RSS.. I will follow up with the Ortho and get x-rays. Thanks again. Sheryl > Sheryl - Hi - my name is Aileen - I haven't met anyone, but I pipe in now > and then.
