's endoscopy and breath hydrogen test

Hello everyone -

First, I am going to post something but if any of you know something

BAD about what I am posting, please do NOT email me. We are already

nervous, and I really would rather be in denial....

went into Children's Hospital Monday afternoon, and we had

her put on the Rehab Floor, to avoid sick kids. VERY tough floor,

though. Many tragedies. Her roommate was a 16-year girl who last

winter, was a beautiful, happy go lucky girl who was a passenger in

a car hit head on.... now she can not do anything on her own, can

not speak, and her family is shattered.

had her IV put in that night so that she could be NPO for

the endoscopy, scheduled for Tues at 9:30am. Well, this is why we

always insist on IVs, even if a doctor says " well, we'll schedule

her first so you really don't need an IV. " Cuz 9:30am slowly and

painfully went on and on until 2:00pm!!!!! Endoscopy went awesome

and easily -- and I was given the report at the end to read which

had two numbered points about how the stomach looked great and that

there were " scattered duodenal lesions " or some spelling like that.

And that biopsies of places and the lesions were taken and sent off.

was able to eat from 5-8pm, before going NPO again all

night. I was so tired, sleeping in a broken chair sharing a room.

Then this morning, the 4 hour breath hydrogen test -- easy as pie.

Drink some sugar water, and then every 30 minutes she blows into a

straw and blows up a little balloon. During this time, a nurse

comes in and is working on the discharge papers and she says

something vague like " did the doctor explain the endoscopy

results? " so I said the two things, stil not thinking anything

bad. And she just had this look on her face... so the whole way

home I'm pondering it and realizing, uh oh, this duodenal lesion

thing, maybe this is something that could be nothing, could be bad???

I have gone on line for an hour, and gosh, so many links that tie

these lesions to cancer. But there are other parts that tie them to

h.pylori, and I know a bunch of our kids have tested positive for

that! So I finally got off the internet and decided that I would

post here - to see if any of you have experience with

these " lesions " . And to wait for the pathology results in a couple

days.

The saddest news is that 's beloved hamster, Possible, die

while she was at the hospital. She has been devastated. Incredible

what a tiny animal can mean to a child. A major funeral is

planned....
