Guest guest
I mostly lurk and try to educate myself but now I need some advice. Here is my story: Diagnosed with Graves Feb 03 put on 30 MG Tapazole per day Kept on this dosage for 3 months with blood panels done every three to four weeks In May was hypo and taken off Tap cold turkey By July I was back to all my Hyper symptoms and was put back on 20 mg Tap August Tap was reduced to 15 MG per day Today was back to hypo ( and this is what has me scared ) I was told to take Tap 10 MG for two days then 5 MG for two days and then discontinue the Tap all together. Starting tomorrow I am to start on Levoxyl. Now my question.....why would I be told to take a pill for hypothyroid and hyperthyroid at the same time? Since I have Graves and optioned not to have RAI, is this the normal treatment? I am scared that I will go back to hyper symptons even more rapidly with Levoxyl, which were severe both before Tap and when I was told to quit taking Tap in May. Maybe I am missing something here but this seems to be much like being told to take meds for both high blood pressure and low blood pressure at the same time. I know this disease clouds your thinking process but even my family is confused. Any ideas or advice??? Thanks,
