Guest guest
Dear J, You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go for your surgery. I know God will be with you to provide healing, hope and restored quality of life. Be of good cheer, you will have a lot of prayer support from this board, and God DOES answer prayers. :-) Sometimes the waiting for things is the hardest part, so try to remember to breathe deeply this day and try to focus on how you'll be feeling better after you are finished tomorrow. God bless and keep you,
Guest guest
My husband had sinus surgery a few months ago. First let me say that he had a BAD case of polyps and his experience was probably extreme. Here are a few things we learned from the experience. My sister got him one of those eye packs that you put in the refrigerator to cool. He said that helped immensely for the pain and swelling. I think she got hers at Bath and Body Works. You might want to get 2 if you can afford it and switch them out. I don't know how many people you live with, but we ended up sending our kids off with Grandma and Grandpa for a few days. You'll probably want quiet. Noise hurt his head very badly. (Drs. tell you you'll have mild discomfort. This may be, but we didn't expect a headache like this. Which actually makes sense. Think about your worst sinus infection...that's what said it felt like.) The best thing to do is to sleep as much as possible. The dr.s did give him good painkillers. Speaking of drs. Because it's day surgery, these heartless people expect you to get up and get out. At least they did with my husband. So I recommend you have somebody with you who can go to the mat for you and tell these pushy nurses that NO, you are not ready to jump out of bed and go home right away. Also, they wanted my husband to eat crackers before he could leave, but they didn't give him anything to drink. Whoever goes with you should make sure they give you a sprite or something FIRST, then crackers, because your throat will be really dry and sore. Also, insist on a wheelchair when they make you leave. The nurse offered to take my husband outside while I got the car and they made him walk. He said he was terrified he would fall down and break something. I don't mean to scare you. Like I said, had a bad case. The surgery lasted much longer than they expected, he had a hard time coming out of anesthesia, etc. BUT surgery is still surgery and the way they do this day surgery really aggravates me. Take your time at the hospital. Have someone there who will help you and insist you get what you need. And don't walk to your car!! ))) Hope this helps. Kristi PS. Just a note....you will NOT be able to return to work the following day, as my silly husband thought. He ended up taking 3 days off + the weekend. Also, his eyes and head hurt too much to watch TV, but my sister had given him a CD/Book on tape...he said that was good for distracting him about the pain. Please pray for me > Good Morning Everyone!! > I hope everyone is doing well. I hate to ask you but I was wondering > if you could take a moment to pray for me. On Wednesday I go in for > Sinus surgery and I'm scared to death!! This surgery is a result of > my orbital decompression that I had a few months ago.... my sinus' > have been a mess ever since and I have so much pressure on my teeth > its making me crazy.
