Guest guest
Hey Jen, Nope, I haven't been mixing it into anything. Just down the spoonful when I've finished my breakfast. I've been trying to cut back on bit on my dairy intake, so I don't have yogurt or other dairy stuff for breakfast and lunch each day, although I do for the most part have some sort of protein for breakfast, even if it's just a piece of toast with peanut butter on it. :-) So I can't mix it into something on a regular basis, and I've actually gotten used to the taste - at least it's better than castor oil! Thanks for pointing out that my body is probably saying " enough already " ! LOL I've been trying to do the 1 tbs. per 100 lbs. of body weight that was recommended by some in the group.....but perhaps that is too much for my tummy to handle. I just want to be sure and get the benefits of this stuff for my eyes to help keep them from getting worse and make them feel better. Thanks for the help Jen. Guest guest
You might be taking too much. I am eating ground flax every morning, and I added 2 tablespoons of flax oil to it, and it was too much. Each of us is different, so the amount needed is different. I think your bowels are telling you to back off. Are you eating it mixed in anything. It should be eaten with a protein, mixed in yogurt or a smoothie or something. Otherwise, a week was all it took me to get use to the flax. Jen M oops - one last question re: flaxseed oil > Me again. :-) > > Do you all know, will your tummy settle down and you quit having loose bowel > movements from taking the liquid form of the flaxseed oil after a time? I think that means dairy, as the suggestion was for yogurt or cottage cheese. It probably wouldn't take much--I use about 2 tablespoons of yogurt but you could use less--and you might find your body tolerates the oil better and gets more benefit. Some people feel organic dairy products are healthier, although I don't know that the iodine content is less. (As I understand it, the iodine in dairy may come from sterilization procedures.) In any case, a bit of dairy to help absorb the oil is probably OK. I recently learned the hard way about the benefits of flaxseed oil--two days without taking it and I started having double vision for the first time (up till now just a lot of swelling and irritation). I'm back on the flax and have been seeing OK again. So it certainly works for me. Best wishes, B.
Guest guest
Hi & everyone: After hearing about the wonders of flax oil when taken at the 1 tablespoon per 100# of body weight, my health has improved tremendously. It *did* take me some time to be able to absorb that much...so I cut back and then slowly worked up to the larger amount again. Another tip is to divide it up, something like 1 teaspoon per meal (or whatever is 1/3 of your desired intake). The only problem I had with the larger suggested dose was diarrhea. And sometimes that was welcomed since PTU makes me constipated. I just take it with a spoon...but I take it immediately before consuming some food. Yogurt is what I have fond to be the best...and others actually pour the flax oil over vegetables on the plate. Try various thing, find what works for you...but do cut back and then gradually increase the dosage. The improved health...double vision about 95% gone (after 2 years of agony), most redness/inflamation is gone, and my eyes do NOT hurt me anymore. I still get dryness...but much less when I take the flax. It's a miracle...to me...as I really believe that I will eventually be able to achieve remission...since my only real problem with Graves is with the eyes. That is...as long as I take 50mg of PTU every 8 hours. Best to all, Ron > > Nope, I haven't been mixing it into anything. Just down the > spoonful when > > I've finished my breakfast.
