Guest guest
One of the best pieces of advice I got starting the diet was to leave a decent gap between introducing substitutes for things he really loves. So if you leave a few weeks (if possible) of giving no waffles or whatever the favourite foods are (maybe just giving fruit or cereal/gfcf toast, whatever), then when you reintroduce the new alternative, it 'might' be better than nothing at all. Sometimes introducing alternatives to favourites within days just won't go down well, as they don't usually measure up to what our kids are used to. Also what I found really worked well with was a bit of reinforcement bartering thrown in - I know loves computer, and I knew the food I was offering him was perfectly palatable (if it was horrible, I really wouldn't force it on him). So I told he must first have a bite of ... whatever .... before he was allowed play computer. It got him to try a lot more food than he would have, and often converted him to the new tastes.
