Guest guest
Carmen, Yeah, my mind works in weird ways, like I am going to be the one that comes up with why our kids have RSS! HA! But, I can't help but think that it is funny how both of my kids and I have some of the same features, but just has a little more, and more issues. rs of Down syndrome may not show any signs whatsoever, but pass the gene down to another child, who may not show any signs, or very few, but the next child has full blown Down's. It just interests me and I wonder if RSS could be this way also. I have some features, has even more, and then has the " severe " RSS. Hmmm......who knows. Just wondering if any of you have any similar thoughts or some of the RSS characteristics. But, like I said, if we are carriers, we wouldn't even have to have any characteristics. BTW, Carmen, I am kind of short. I am only 5'2 " on a good day! ) Too bad you and I didn't get a chance to meet. ( Jodi R. > Jodi R, > I have had a lot of the same thoughts as you! Guest guest
hey guys!! i dont know how that would work in our case. i am 5'10 " and my hubby is 5'8 " . neither of us have any of the charectistics of rss and neither of my other kids have any either. my hubby, christopher and i all had genetic testing done that showed nothing out of sorts. but that being said my mom is only 5'4 " and has a couple of the features and she has wondered if there is a like between her and the reason he has rss. then again my g-ma is short too. so who knows?! it would be interesting to find out if there would be any kind of connection. but no sense in driving ourselves crazy over it!!! (jodi you have enough on your plate right now girl!!!) amybe some day they will find out why? jodie c. > > Jodi R, > > I have had a lot of the same thoughts as you! Guest guest
Jodie, That is exactly my pont here. You DON NOT have to show any of the symptoms. Because you are a carrier of something, deosn't mean you have to show any characteristics. And the thing with your mom, maybe she carriers the gene, and it skipped you, and went on to . You just never know. It has just been something I have thought about, and was wondering if any one else had thought about the carrier thing too. No biggie. It's not something that consumes me. Just a passing thought every so often. But, the whole thing about carriers, is that it could skip a generation. Rod had a sister with Down Syndorme, and when he was tested, he didn't carry it. But, one of his siblings may, or may not. The ironic thing is, I know it is in his family because he had an aunt that had Down's too! Weird! Could be same situation with our kids. Who knows. Guest guest
It's alright, I just wanted you to know that it isn't something I sit and dwell on everyday and every hour of my life. What is to me is a miracle, and nothing less. Those of you that remember when I first came on this board, it was amazing even survived his early months! It is just something that interests me and I have always been interested in genetics. Why things happen. No biggie! ) I still love you! Hee, hee.
