Guest guest
I also have an 11 mos. old daughter I worry about. It's impossible not to. She's saying around 20 words now (adds a new one everyday), walked before 9 months, and is pointing right on schedule. Even though she's ahead in every area, I'm always going to watch her like a hawk. I am worried because she's tiny for her age and hasn't even doubled her birth weight yet, she lost an ounce since our last doctor's visit and she'll be tested to see why she isn't growing. What scares me is that a lot of parents talk about their daughters not becoming autistic until after 2. The only vaccination she's gotten is the Hib and I'm going to wait to get the rest when she's 2. I do know that I treasure every word she says and take so much pleasure in every normal thing she does. I guess I have " Autism " to thank for that. I guess the best we can do is pray and make sure they're GF/CF along with supplements. Good luck to you and your daughters. Guest guest
> She really displays no symptoms. She has normal speech (3-4 word > sentances), great eye contact and social interaction, spontaneaous speech, > joint attention, cries appropriately when hurt, offers sympathy when big > sister is hurt, and shows imaginative play and imitates. > The things that worry me is that she will quote her favorite video (delayed > echolalia?) and occasionally goes up on tiptoes. But absolutely NO > perseverative play, no spining, no twirling, no head waggling or hand > flapping. She runs around the house looking for Daddy and says Hi to each > of us wehn we enter a room. Will someone please reassure me? , sounds like a VERY normal two-year old! My older four all displayed these age-appropriate behaviors when they were two. It sounds to me like she's doing GREAT. Congratulations on being such a fantastic mommy! Hugs- Sue
Guest guest
I have 4 1/2 year old boy/girl twins. My son was diagnosed autistic early on, around 15 months. But my little girl didn't show that many signs and wasn't diagnosed till after age 3- PDDNOS that has since been changed to Asperger's. It was a surprise actually to us because she's so different from her brother. She has never 'stimmed', needed the vestibular input, shown sensory problems, etc. She just has more behavioral and attention span concerns and is easily overwhelmed. donna
