Guest guest
Hi all- It' s been a while since I last posted. I was hyper w/o Graves last year due to a toxic nodule that was removed in December. I went hypo soon after that and have been on Synthroid since January, taking .050 mg daily. I have a few questions that I hope someone and Elaine, if you're out there, can answer. It's heating up here in the Northeast I am feeling the same heat intolerance as I did when I was hyper least year. I had hoped that the opposite would be true! Last labs were on 4/28 - new labs will be drawn on Tuesday. Also having some blood sugar events that are being tested as well! Oy. TSH - 1.32 (0.3 - 3.30) Free T4 - 1.2 (0.8-1.8) Total T3 97 - (60-181) Recent history: Since becoming hypo, fibroids flared up and it was really a bad time with heavy bleeding. I had surgery to remove a largeish fibroid 6 weeks ago and have been recovering at home. 2 -3 weeks ago I started feeling warm and started taking my temperature and am running low-grade fevers from slightly below normal (in the AM) to the mid-99s during the day and at night. This happened for awhile before the surgery too then stopped. I also feel feverish (face hot) even when my temp is normal. I did take progestin for almost a month pre-surgery to slow down the bleeding. I was /am anemic due to heavy bleeding from fibroids but that is resolving itself well now. I have an unexplained WBC count that is a little high but my hematologist thinks it's due to the anemia. I'm having mor etests for it is a couple of weeks. Could the heat thing still be thyroid-related? I had unbelievable heat intolerance last year while hyper and this is what it feels like. Is it possible for hyper-hypo-symptoms to co-exist? I'm tempted to stop taking my Synthroid til my labs are done in case I have edged toward hyper-land in the last 2 months. My endo does not do free T3 tests. The Total T3 was run by my hematologist, who I no longer need to see. The most I can hope for from my current endo (looking to change drs.) is TSH, T3 uptake, Total T4 and Free T4. What other tests should I be having? Is free T# really important? He seems not to think so. I know that these are a lot of questions, but thanks in advance to anyone who responds. I just would like to avoid another truly miserable summer. I know that I have been through a lot health-wise lately and it has been very stressful and that it may just take me some extra time to feel better. It's taking a long time and I am exhausted from the simplest errands. And I need to lose some weight but of course that will take time and extra physical effort that I just do not have. Can anyone try to make some sense of all of this? Thanks- Jan
