Guest guest
Hi, I got my blood test results back today and it seems my FT4 is rising along with the TSH dropping. In a nutshell, I started on 30 mg of Tapazole last October along with drastic positive changes to my diet including an addition of vitamins and minerals geared for Grave's Disease. I responded very well to the Tapazole and my levels were well into normal range in no time and accordingly, I dropped the medicine in slow increments. In March I was at 5 mg and still am. However, gradually, since about March,I have gone back to all the sugar and processed foods and off the supplements. I have also become very sloppy with the times I take the Tapazole and have missed a dose here and there. Now, my TSH is 0.02 and my FT4 has crept up to 1.5 (range 0.8-1.8). In January, when my dose had been too high for too long, I had a TSH of 15.1 and FT4 of 0.7 and I was miserable but now it has gone too far the other way, I think. As of this afternoon I am going back to my old regime but my question is this: Is this enough to salvage my levels and bring my TSH back to range again or does it mean eventually having to go back to the 30 mg and starting all over again? The endo said to stay on the 5 mg. Maybe someone out there has had a similar experience. Thank you, M.
Guest guest
, First, your FT4 is still in range--in fact, at the point in the range many of us do the best. Sometimes, TSH is suppressed on ATD's, so I never worry much about mine. Going back to your good regime of eating and supplements will help, and so will splitting your dose if you don't do that now, and taking it reliably.
