Guest guest
Hi , My g-daughter, Aidan, is very small for her age, too. She turned 4 at the end of July, weighs 32# and is 36 " tall. There are RSS kids on this list serve that are the same age/size or bigger than she is! Her weight is still on the growth charts, but she has fallen off the height chart. The Ped says that there is nothing to worry about. She is just going to be small. Aidan is also a horrible eater. She did fine when she was on baby food, but once she moved over to table food, she got MUCH pickier!! She won't touch any type of veggie, will only eat apples (and they have to be peeled) as far as fruit goes, and is not a big fan of any kind of meat. We only get meat down her IF she has a dipping sauce. The ped told us to substitute V-8 Splash for the veggies, 100% juice for the fruit, and just keep on trying new foods with no pressure on making her eat. I have to say, it is VERY frustrating!! Guest guest
Hi Pat, Thanks for the response! From what you said, Aidan reminds me of Skye! Did you know that cookies have crust? But only on the opposite end he bites into. I didn't until my son informed me. We are thinking he is just small and the doc has thought that but she really wants to make sure because he is 4 (about) standard deviations underneath his predicted height based upon his dad and me and with everything going on with Autumn. I'm not usually a worrier, but now the question of 'what if something is wrong' is going on in my head. It must be the doctor overload. It's nice to know he's not the only small kid....because between his size and Autumn's size, I get endless comments no matter where I go. They just cant' beleive he's 6 and she's 8 mos. Some peoples rudeness will start affecting him soon, and I'm dreading it. I can usually play it off but he's starting to pick up on things. Just to let you know, I just got V8 splash from Kroger..thanks for advice. Your fellow Ohioan > Hi , > > My g-daughter, Aidan, is very small for her age, too. Guest guest
Hey ! Where in Ohio do you live?? I know what you about Dr overload! LOL I do all the research for . We use the " world-renown " Cleveland Clinic for , and still the Drs here don't seem to understand RSS at all. So I research whatever problems we're having, and attempt to find solutions that we can try. I then make suggestions to the Drs, and that is the direction we usually go in! LOL Might as well have an MD behind my name since B was born! LOL Like you, I never questioned Aidan's " smallness " , but now that I know more than I ever wanted to about GH, GHD, and growth disorders, I keep thinking " what if?? " we've missed something! Sometimes, ignorance is bliss! Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 33 months, 22.5#, 31.8 " , G-Tube)
Guest guest
Hi Pat, I live in Trenton Ohio. It is in the middle of Dayton and Cincinnati. We go to Cincinnati CHildren's Hospital and their outpatiet offices for Autumn. I know what you mean how ignorance is bliss! I feel the same way, both with Autumn and Skye. Autumn used to just be small, but now the possibilities are endless! As for SKye, I don't know. I do all sorts of research for Autumn also, but nothing is officially found out with her yet. The doc is pretty convinced of RSS...she has a wide broad forehead but not very extreme, she has a triangular face, and they say she " looks " it. Her top of her head measures the 50% but her face is small. It's not that noticable in some pictures and in others it is very noticable. There was no growth measured in utero past 32 weeks and I had her at 38 1/2 at 5lbs 6 oz HEr body is in the negative percentile! She has possible kidney problems, protein malnutrition, and who knows what else. But you know what? She is thriving in other ways even though she is FTT. She is sitting, crawling all over the house, and acts like any other 8 1/2 month old. She's so adorable. Children's hospital seems to be good but I am thinking a lot of that DR H. I have a stepmother that lives about 3 hours from the city. I might see if I could arrange a trip sometime in the future. Good luck with all your research with . He's a cutie. Sounds like you're a great grandma! > Hey ! > > Where in Ohio do you live?? > > I know what you about Dr overload! LOL I do all the research for .
