My daughter is 3.9 and we tried Danplex pwder last year. I didn't notice any improvement and found it really hard to give her. I switched to SuperNu Thera, and liked it better, but am still not sure it helped. Anyway, it didn't hurt as my daugter is now off the spectrum. Good luck! - > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Hi. I don't know anything about flaxeed oil and Danplex. We use SNT (SuperNu-Thera) from kirkmanlabs, and I have not tried anything else. -But I may be, because I need something a little easier for my son (ASD 4 1/2)to put down (he can make it very hard many times)- But the SNT is very good. That's all I can tell you. (You have no instructions from the maker of the products or your dr?) Good luck and welcome to this list (I guess?):-) Cristina-WA (mom to 4 1/2 ASD, and & 21 mo twins NT)
Guest guest
Our DAN! doctor always emphasizes one thing at a time for a period of 3 months and see what the results are. This way you see exactly what is working for your child and what is not. If you start too many things at once, you'll never know. This was hard for us because me son needed vitamins, bacteria and yeast treatments, calcium, EFA's, etc., that he showed deficiencies in on recent tests. We couldn't handle the 3 months per item. So we are doing one new thing a month as far as supplements and one new food to try every 72 hours. I keep a detailed journal of our children's day, their food consumption, behavior, speech, skills, therapy, etc. I try to make an entry every 15-30 minutes. This has helped us to closely evaluate how they are responding to everything. Donna
Guest guest
I have not used the products you mentioned but can share some information I know on enzymes which should apply to SerenAid. For best results: Timing - enzymes work to digest food on contact. So you need to take the enzymes at the beginning of the meal. The contents must be IN SOLUTION for the enzymes to work. If you need mixing ideas or ways parents have found to get the enzymes in at the right time, there are many posted on the enzymesandautism message board at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/enzymesandautism and there is a document called Mixing Enzymes with ideas. Capsule type - enzymes like many supplements come in capsules that can be pulled apart. There are veggie caps and gelatin caps. On the enzymesandautism message board, there were a few families having mixed results. Not all positive, not all negative. I did some experimenting in my kitchen with liquids at different pH and temperature. What I discovered is that the veggie capsules were not dissolving as quickly as you might think. Under stomach conditions, the gel capsules just dissintegrated within 2 minutes, but the veggie capsules took much longer. So if you are using an enzyme product such as EnzymAid, Peptizyde, or Zyme Prime, you need to either open the capsule and mix it in water or food before you eat, or allow 30 minutes for the capsule to dissolve. If you are using a gelatin capsule like KidZyme or SerenAid, you can open it if you want, but the capsule will dissolved within two minutes. After we found this out, the families having inconsistant results all reported they have very successful results and their kids are eating all kinds of previously problematic foods with no problem. Enzyme type - enzymes are very specific, they only work on certain things. So you need to get the type of enzyme to degrade the type of food you are interested in. I tried a bottle of enzymes from the health food store to degrade proteins. It did not work on the milk protein I was interested in, although it may work perfectly well on beef or chicken. Now, I use Peptizyde which is specifically designed to degrade milk protein/casein, and it is working quite well for the 3 of us. Reactions - a few side-effects you may see at the very beginning of enzymes use include, loose stools for a few days (the gut is getting " cleaned out " of built up gunk and toxins), increased thirst, increased appetite and range of foods (my youngest started eating 1/3 more and 30 foods instead of 5 in two weeks of enzyme use), hyperactivity or withdrawal (just like you would see on the GFCF diet if there is an " opiate " reaction going on). Many parents say they weren't prepared for how happy and pleasant their kids became. My oldest reacted this way in addition to all the expected " better eye contact, more socialization, better sleep " , etc. Instead of so argumentative, he is now downright agreeable and .... happy. Enzymes will not interact with most of the other supplements usually given (I haven't heard of one really). So you do not have to give them separatly from other meds or supplements. Here is a link to a message that contains several posts talking about SerenAid as compared to other products: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/enzymesandautism/message/442 There is more information and people who use SerenAid regularly on the enzymesandautism board if you have questions. I hope something here was helpful. . > > Hi Everyone!! > My son is turning 3 this July we just recently started the gfcf diet and I > am about to inplement the vitamin supplement DANPLEX POWDER AND THE SerenAid > along with the Flaxseed Oil. > > Has anyone used these before seeing or without seeing a Dan DR? > > Please give me some feedback about this and how it has affected your child > so i have something to compare to and i have things to look for in my son > such as reactions or ?, etc. > > Thanks for your input!!! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
I'm not the one who asked for this info, but having just started to use one of the enzyme aids (the powder capsule type) I am thankful for the info! Will share with my doc, too. Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sizzlin' summer regards, Beth Ranucci ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
