Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry you're having a hard time. My stamina has gone way down since I became hyper a year and a half ago, and my patience has declined even further--and lots of days I'm really happy I don't have to drive at all, let alone spend all day on the road in a constant state of attention (my boyfriend drives a cab in 12 hour shifts, so I hear about that some). You might be able to get some improvement in your eyes by taking steps to heal your immune system. (That's also the way to go before having any surgery--you want to get as much natural healing to occur as possible). The biggest help seems to be from flax seed oil, which is a source of Omega 3 essential fatty acids. They help the inflammation. The liquid is better generally (from the health food store, refrigferated) but if you're on the road you might prefer the capsules instead (also from a health food store). In liquid form the dose is 1 tablespoon per 100 lb. body weight a day, mixed with a bit of protein like yogurt. Antioxidants like alpha lipoic acid and B vitamins also help. IPlus it helps to reduce sugar, caffeine, and saturated fats (I started with sugar--still working on the caffeine). I believe that even after RAI you need to avoid iodine (I might be wrong about this)--if so you would want to make sure your vitamin is iodine free (again, they'll have a few brands at the health food store). And as said, you're a far better judge of what's right for you (including thyroid levels) than your doctor, and you deserve to find someone who can help you find the right dose and type of replacement hormone. Best wishes, B.
Guest guest
Hey Mrshorty! Long time no hear! Darn it, I thought maybe it was because you were doing better. I am sorry to hear that this is not the case. I feel so bad for all that you have been thru with your misdiagnosis and all in the beginning of this. Is your doctor monitoring your dose of thyroid hormone replacement based on your FreeT3 and FreeT4? This is so important. You should feel your best with a TSH between 1-2, and your FreeTs in the upper third of the normal range. I say " should " because we are all different. Well, you admitted that you are not eating good, so this could be your problem. By eating on the go, you are ingesting a lot of iodine, and because you have active eye disease, this is not helping your eyes. You should avoid iodine, aspartame, prepackaged and fast foods. Find a multivitamin that is an antioxidant formula without iodine. Also, supplement with calcium, magnesium, potassium, flaxseed oil, and selenium. Berries are a great source of antioxidants. What are your latest labs with the normal limits? How often do you see your doctor and ophth? Hang in there......
