Guest guest
* Hi Sharon, I saw that has cream of tartar in a frosting recipe so I'm sure its a safe product to use (I buy McCormick spices), but I never bought cream of tartar or used it. I called my dad and asked him about it (he is a retired science teacher) and here is what he told me - Cream of tarter is obtained from salts (chemicals) which are found on the bottom and sides of wine casks. These salts are already 90% cream of tarter. They are ground and purified and contain hydrogen, potassium, carbon and oxygen. Funny, I never gave thought where as spices came from, only thought of them as coming out a jar!!!!!!!! We all learn something. on Long Island New York * On Sun, 27 May 2001 09:14:54 -0400 Alan Kemnitzer writes: > Can anyone tell me what Cream of Tartar is made from?
