Guest guest
Hi Barb, This stuff ALWAYS happens on a long weekend ya know. It sounds hypo in my experience. Probably no need to panic. " IF " it is plain ol' hypo, that simply means the Tap is doing what it is supposed to do. Sorry, I am not up on your history. Where you hyper or hypo when you switched to Tap ? What mg. of each ? With this info I can make a better GUESS at least. Why did you switch, just out of curiosity. The T3 should be checked several months in a row in the beginning. This is to make sure YOUR T3 is not a problem. FT3 is much more accurate, but much more expensive. I had plain T3 checked the first three months and there was no problem for ME, so I never went to the extra expense of FT3 until my very LAST lab for Graves'. I went all out that last lab, as I had been anti thyroid drug ( ATD ) FREE for 8 weeks and this is how I celebrated. :-) Sad huh ! I pay about $33 for T3. FT3 was $155 You should at least get the T3 and see if it is high compared... then if it is, get a FT3. Process of elimination. More important with Tap since Tap does NOT limit the conversion of T4 into T3. PTU does do this. Whatever you do... do NOT lower your dose until you get the blood drawn. A few days of hypo happens. It is not Hypo Hell. The Hell in hypo is when you are left there for years due to bad docturn'. -Pam L- 3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Remission due to SLOW reduction of PTU (despite an incompetent endo ! ), improved lifestyle, excellent nutrition, herbs, and looking at the big picture. Pills alone only help the symptoms. We must help our bodies to heal.
Guest guest
I've been in an active phase of thyroid eye disease (TED) for about 3 weeks now, and the major sign was swelling around my eyes. My eye lids are swollen as well as the skin above them, and I have bags under my eyes. My eyes were measured a month ago, and the left one is bigger than the previous measurement Remember that anyone can develop eye disease at any time. I've been taking Tapazole for almost 3 months now and I have responded very well on it according to my blood tests (in fact my doctor had to reduce my dosage so I wouldn't beecome hypo). But despite my almost normal levels, my eye disease is getting worse. Have you seen an opthamologist yet? Mine has been tracking my eyes since my diagnosis, and sent me to see the plastic surgeon/eye disease specialist this week due to the changes in my eyes. She agrees that I have TED, and is watching my eyes closely. It's possible that you're hypo but the swelling could also be eye disease, which needs to be checked out as soon as possible.
