Guest guest
I have one suggestion for food " on the road " . At 's (or some steak houses for that matter), a relatively safe choice is a plain hamburger patty and baked potatoes. 99% of the time, the baked potatoes are baked wrapped in foil and by themselves, and I don't know any place that puts anything on them till they come out of the oven. Also, I know that 's chili is GFCF, and I *believe* (not positive) that their corn chips are too, so he could eat a taco salad minus the cheese of course. Also, if there are any Vietnamese or Chinese restaurants around, most of them will have rice or rice noodles and there are some places that have plain steamed dishes without any sauce at all (chicken, beef, shrimp, veggies, etc.) and served over plain rice. I have a few places around whose " white sauce " is chicken broth based and thickened with corn starch, so it could be GFCF, depending on the broth of course. Anyway, hope one or more of these suggestions helps. Good luck to you! -a mom to Alec 7 (nt) and Billy 4 yo w/autism > I have had a major disaster! Last night our home > flooded with sewer water. Guest guest
Yikers... sorry about the mess! I hope it gets cleaned up quick!! As far as food from chains: go to meet with managers close to your temporary home Tell them your situation. Explain that your child is HOSPITAL 9-1-1 allergic to the following foods (then list them out.) Ask him/her if he can help you make it through this tough time and make sure you don't take a trip to the hospital on top of it all. I found that several restaurant managers (chains and non-chain restaurants) have been very responsive. In return I refer them to other families with special needs. I bring them business. It turns out to be a great relationship. Good luck to you! A JEffs mom Help PLEASE! I have had a major disaster! Last night our home flooded with sewer water. I had to make a flying trip to the next town to get my kids out, but my husband and I have stayed to try to save things and for him to get ready to go to a class he's taking this week. I can call the insurance company in a few minutes and make arrangements to move into a motel, but I don't think we will be able to get kitchen access. I'm worried about what will be able to eat. Has anyone had any luck with calling ahead of time to any major food chains and asking them to make GFCF meals? ===== Visit www.open-invitation.net/andrea to shop the newest product line from House of Lloyd! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
, I am so sorry about the sewer mess, I went through this the week before EASTER.....UGH 10 inches of sewer water in our basement, the city sewer backed up and KABOOM...into our basement. I just wanted to stress something our doctor informed us on.,,,,,, it is great you have removed your children....BUT you and your husband should not stay in the house either until a restoraion company has cleaned it up. Raw sewer material (not going to get graphic) is a harvest home for HARMFUL bacteria for ALL of you, you would be breathing it in at night while you sleep, something you DON'T need to go through on top of everything else your family has to deal with. Please be safe and think of yourself to.....I know I sound like an over-protective mommy, but hey I am Debbie > > > Yikers... sorry about the mess!
