Guest guest
Can you describe them? I have had tiny, itchy clear bumps that appear on my right hand above the wrist. I noticed since I have been taking Tapazole, that is when it started. Its been 10 months now, and it happens once a week. Pharmacist said it could be a reaction to the Tapazole, and to just use Anti-Itch cream. Which helps the itching, but not preventing it from happening again. Its embarassing to say the least. When I scratch them, clear pus comes out. Then its all red blisters. Then it disappears for awhile. Its is comforting to know I am not alone. Guest guest
Jae, When I hear itchy, I think too much medication. Perhaps your body doesn't like one high dose rather than two smaller doses. I would try 2 doses a day (a little pill carrying case could help, if you are away at pill time). 2-3 doses a day is really better, anyway. Guest guest
I'm not sure that taking it once during the day is the cause. I've taken mine once a day for almost two years, starting with 30 mgs. Never had any bumps from it. Guest guest
I did get itchy, bumpy elbows when taking too much medication. Jae, what are your current thyroid levels? Guest guest
Alternatively, this could signal a vascular reaction of some type [bruising + itchy bumps]. What about calling your physician? Guest guest
, Last week I was right in the middle of normal free t4 1.04 (normal range .78 to 2.19) tsh was still low, of course: <.003 (normal .465 to 4.68)* *FYI, my doc was at pains to tell me the tsh reading was misleading and, what did he say?, something like " a false " reading that we would follow just to see when it rises which, he said, could be six months to a year. Guest guest
Ellen, EXACTLY. Tiny itchy bumps that turn red and look like a rash. Never got pus. If I don't scratch, they can come and go within 24 hours. They will go away for a while at night and then come back in the morning. If I scratch, then they stay irritated. Guest guest
Jae, FT4 at 1.04 is actually a bit on the low side (TSH is irrelevant for now). You may really need less Tap. Have you been able to get a FT3? The rash you described in your other post sounds like the one I had on my elbows. If I scratched, it became irritated and more prominent. As I lowered my dose, it progressively disappeared. I think it was my body's way of telling me that I was taking too much medication, which I was. Guest guest
Hi Jae, I had the exact same thing happen to me with Tapazole! When I was first diagnosed I was on PTU but was switched to Tapazole because my doctor said it was less pills for the same effect. I did great until my dosage was increased (sorry, it was 6 years ago and I forget the dosage amounts). About two days after I increased the dosage I got tiny, itchy red bumps all over the place. If I left them alone they didn't bother me other than being a little itchy. If I scratched they seemed to get just a little bigger and a lot more itchy. After 2 days of being itchy I called my doctor and they switched me back to PTU. Never had that problem with PTU and at one time I was taking 10 PTU per day! in MA USA Graves since March 1997 Currently on 0 PTU tablets per day Was euthyroid from 2000-2002 Will not undergo RAI Re: lots of bumps Ellen, EXACTLY. Guest guest
, Many thanks to you and everyone who responded. I really think I know exactly what is happening now. I went over my meds last night and I think two factors are at work here. First, I started taking the whole pill in the morning instead of breaking it up. The second thing is that with this whole craziness with out-of-town guests and a funeral, I believe I took a double dose by mistake at least twice during the last four to five days. Maybe this is the reason? Jae On Friday, October 24, 2003, at 09:07 AM, L. O'Hearn wrote: > Hi Jae, > > I had the exact same thing happen to me with Tapazole!
